Exactly what i said...Have another go at it.

Even if u shop, by the 3rd dealer you're pretty sure u got the best price u can get and that u should just deposit on the spot :)
but damn really 34k from astoria for only tinted and floor mats hahaha i was like WHOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA 800bucks for window to be tinted...what are they tinting the window with? gold? LOL
If the dealer know they are being shopped, shouldnt they give the lowest and best price they can give? because when i heard 33.7k from astoria for a naked car i was like =/
I got prices from 5 dealers, and BECAUSE I shopped around,I got a brilliant deal at that time.
If I would have known how good other dealers were,I would have visited them too......LOL.
Anthony, the price with dealers are different month to month. If one dealer already got target, then they don't want to talk with even below the advertised price. Here in NSW People always says larke hoskins Honda at Homebush are always cheap and they sell lot of cars. They says their dealership is small, they pay less rent and less staff so they can sell it cheaper. However when i went there to buy a car i didn't get a good price, i got a rude sales guy. FInally i got a good price from Rick damelain, most people says Rick damelian sells very expensive.
Its always best to shop around and get the good deal at that time. I do believe when you bought your car, Astoria really needed a sale to meet the target for that month and sold you the car cheaper than other dealers would sell it too. May be when Azn_k3nt went to buy the car Astoria honda already made the target and they don't bother sell the car with very marginal or close to the dealership price..
This advise i always tell to any genuine buyer looking to buy brand new car, just shop around few dealers, price may cheaper depending on the time to time in dealership.
Dealers are just dealers dont forget at the end of the day, their objective is to meet their sales target which is set calendar monthly...like i went 2 honda in essendon they were like =/ we cant do the price today but maybe tomorrow indicating they are willing to go low so their sales target can have a booming headstart...
I don't dealers that use those tactics...is smart playing and it gives the customers a small window to shop around to see if anyone else is better and please make sure u have a deposit for the day :)
I throught you were joking for a moment.... jesus. the general public's consensus defys you. I'll refer to paraja6's quote:
Larke Hoskins Honda is cheap.... if you are Chinese (thats right I said it), I got my euro from them 8 years ago.
..... THEN they screw you over royal in servicing costs.
I bumped into the guy who used to work there many years ago, and they bascially allow hondas to sell cheap cause the local Asians dont shop around for servicing, because of language barrier so they charge ASTRONOMICAL costs in servicing.
LOOK every dealership has different strategies, remember the DEALER MARGIN/Delivery ISNT THE ONLY THING THEY MAKE MONEY OUT OF.
Dealers get kickback based on volume too, just like Apple products.
Two things:
1. it's up to the dealer to decide what strategy they want to go, whether it be low/no margin and high volume OR higher Margin Lower volume, the dealer makes that decision based onthe market data (IE: if you are the only honda dealer in 500 miles, then you strategy will be different than... say metro sydney)
2. the VOLUME kickback comes in grades/steps, so you'd have much better chance of making a good deal when a dealer is reaching very close to ther "next step/level" in their volume that a dealer who know they'll never get to the next target volume.
NO dealer is goin to tell you about ho far their sales are up the ladder, thats why you shop around.
Sorry , i disagree with praja. Dealer targets are normally just reached by the bigger dealerships or smashed by the smaller dealerships. Look at it this way..small dealership with a target of 20 may do 25 and a large dealership with a target of 300 may do 270. Even if the large dealership does 330 , its only 110% of their target. Makes no sense for either dealership to stop selling as many as they can.
Having met a target does not mean you cant get a great deal...Fredoops ,your last paragraph 1. and 2. is spot on.
Larke Hoskins Honda is cheap.... if you are Chinese (thats right I said it), I got my euro from them 8 years ago.
Hmm thats interesting... Since i am an indian background thats why the sales staff showed me that kind of attitude? or the salesguy didn't have a good day? LOL Doesn't matter Rick damelian service was very good from start to till now, the salesguy ring me and ask me hows my car going, is they can assist me with anything. But rick damelian quoted me the service charge a lot....

THat may be correct, most people take their car for service tot he dealers they bought their car, it applyes to any brand of cars people purchase... They believe the dealer sold the car will look after the car like a baby during service time... May be thats why they charge a lot for service?
I take my car to Trivett parramatta, i am really happy with their service. I can see via the glass windows what they are doing to my car...However when i been there for service twice i requested them not to wash my car, its mainly i seen they use "pressure hose water" to wash the car..
With selling new cars, the are many elements in the costs, margin and pricing.
Dealers make profit by:
1. sales price less car costs (costs paid for Honda Aust, CTP, Rego and Stamp Duty)
2. holdback, this is the term used in dealerships for factory rebate
3. volume bonus, if the dealer achieves say 100 new cars for that month, Honda Aust will give them bonus
4. commission from writing new car loan contracts
5. etc...
When I was working for a dealership, it was quite common for deals done with minimal profits and sometimes a small loss in order to move on old stocks.
At the end of the day, know what you want first so you can come to the dealer fully prepared and do not be swayed by usually attractive lady trying to sell you paint protection / tint / etc... this is where they sometimes try to claw back some profit :)
With servicing Honda cars, most MTA approved mechanics are able to do it, the engine can take the cheap Castrol Magnatec too, so shop around as Praja only paid $150 with Trivett Honda Service and I was quoted $300 with Rick Damelian Service for the same 6 months service job.
Honda is not overly complicated, not like VW / Merc / BMW where a lot of the things are computerised and have a lot of mechatronics components, and require certain oils. I heard a story of someone buying a used VW Golf TDI from a Toyota Dealer, when he drove home the Golf warning lights came on and a lot of smoke came out. Turned out the Toyota Service used normal oil to service car prior to sale and the VW diesel engine requires specific type VW approved oil!
Hi nat,
There is a correctin with my service cost for 150.. which i confirmed they did it as a 5000km service with FEO ultra. With normal Mobil S5w-30 they quoted me 90 something...
The service manager told me after i clarified, since my car is verylow milage, they did it as a 5000km service, the only think they didn;t do is tyre rotation, which includes in 6months service.. Otherwise i can see the invoice says everything checked as per what logbook says in 6months/10k service..
The next service i am taking in sept gona be my 6months one, eventhough my car is going to be close to 1 1/2yrs old in sept this year...
When i question about warranty from Honda, the service manager at trivett told me, Honda only makesure we take the car to honda dealer every 6months for service... If we skip and there is a warranty repair needed then its a big problem.
yes Rick damelian they quoted me higher for me as well, which i found out same 5000km service like trivett did(withot tyre rotation)..
But i heard rick damelian gives a big bar of chocolate to people they take their car for service to them...hmm..
