Indie, give me details. I may be interested :P
Ha, yeah, you may be actually. Someone might be.
So what does everybody think I should be asking for price wise?
It's a 1999 model with <120,000 on the clock.
Full Honda Dealer service history.
Timing belt changed at last service. New battery.
One previous owner. Never been over 3500 rpm during my ownership. Mechanically perfect.
Engine bay immaculate.
Completely stock.
Front bar needs a touch up due to scrapes, and there is a small scuff on another panel, but otherwise it's clean.
I think the stereo is no longer working, so I can sell it with a new head unit.
Sigh. I'm going to talk myself into keeping it. But yeah, any ideas what I should be asking for?
About 7 would be ok but not an easy sell
5-6 for easier sale
Hm. I was thinking that 7 was pretty reasonable. 5 is definitely too low.
Never been over 3500rpm? .....ok
No, it's a manual.
Indie it would help if you said GSI, VTI-R or type r
By the way people are voting and u haven't been passed 3,500 rpm it must be a GLI
I've seen GLI's sell for $7k only due to the high asking price or VTI-R owners lol
Just had a little sneak peak photoshoot
http://tapatalk.com/mu/7cbc800d-c6e0-e814.jpg
DC4 = GSi (no vtak)
6-7k would be your target - OzH would lowball you 5k or something lol
sell on carsales and you will definately up your chances of selling it for more
nice pics marcus
so cleannn!
Hmm sounds pretty nice Indie, if i don't find a dc2 soon i might come take a look
moar pics marcus!
going through some old pics hah

so you ended up going to attend it mate? haha
make all them haters hate =]
DC4 under my name and profile pic, mate. ;)
But yes, GSi, hence why I never rev the thing just to hear VTEC, haha.
Carsales has a lot of GSis around the 7k mark that are at much higher kays than mine, and no service history, so I'd probably price it there I think.
Looking nice, by the way!
Installed some vortex generators

http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...05006561_n.jpg
and i dunno bout haters, i think people are more shocked at my car lol
Already losing out like over $3500 selling my car which ive had for not even a year, the buyer trying to haggle it down even further -_-
well i didnt do anything to the teg, but someone else reversed into it yesterday, and this morning a trolley smacked into it too. at least its all on the front bumper/bonnet
shouldn't have said that here levi R,
Charlie do not go dc4 again no matter what especially if you're selling urs..
delete that comment mate
opinions boys? http://firesport.com.au/97-prelude-h...--ad198603.htm
lol what did levi r say?
something about his pen1s size
Preludes are slow dude. Weigh in at 1380kg and have a laggy as fck gearbox plus add the fact that Vtec redlines at like 7600rpm and drops out of Vtec when shifting. Honestly manual gsi would maul it .
As a daily though, the prelude has leather interior, cruise control, arguably a nicer interior. And for some reason chicks love preludes, i always see some asian babes driving them lol
Do me a favor before you decide on a prelude. Go test drive a DC2R and then a prelude , then make your decision ..
Cousin of mine just got a VTIR recently, and it's actually quite close to the dc2r, minus all the cool recaro's lighter weight blablabalbalabl but it drives pretty damn well.
If you want I can give you a demo of my DC2R charlie brown, if you don't live too far east, however I'm a shit driver so don't expect much :P
The Prelude is a nice cruiser, but I think the DC2 looks better, and would probably be more fun.
@Khang Bursting bubble here: VTI-R is no where near a TYPE-R IMO
I've owned both and the TYPE-R has crazy amount of handling along with such a smooth stock ride whilst the VTI-R was still smooth but was missing those ultimate mods to make it feel like a perfectly steered vehicle. My old prelude sure did accommodate more towards the DC2r handling and smooth ride but was only lacking the recaro's lol it is still a car which makes you feel like your driving a toy car and handles great!
Bak on track if you desire a prelude as a daily that is good dude just depends what you want and it's really only up to you, you will be driving it and loving it just like you did with yours now
Nah man I havnt :( I want them on so
Much but don't really want to drill right in the middle of the bar:( jut because,
You only really get on chance..
Soon enough I will get em
On I hope... Might just end up going to a mates body shop and getting them
To put them
On for me...
@blastnpast
Maybe the condition of the VTI-R I drove was really good, I admit I can't push it's handling as hard, however I found it's power delivery quite comfortable, and linear. Don't get me wrong, I bought the R for a reason :D.
Yep dc2r out of budget, well a good condition one is at least. Ive been looking for a dc2 for months man, haven't been able to find one i like.
Yes please! I'm in noble/springy south. Would love to ride shotgun. Fastest car i've ever been in would probably be my mum's 2L camry :o
stock for stock the type R does sh*t all over the vti-r, but that'd be because the type r is basically a pre-modded version and i guess you probably pay for that difference too. vti-r's can be really good with mods, but I guess you pay for that too. so it really comes down to whether you can afford a type r straight up or not, I know I couldn't lol.
Nothing to my Integra... but something to it's new motor...
This was the 2nd weekend in a row that I had worked on my new engine. Last week we basically just pulled off some parts, and tidied a few things up... nothing productive.
This week on the other hand... We started with this
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0159.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0161.jpg
And these parts needed to be fitted
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0160.jpg
And for those of you playing at home... it'll be fitted to this in the next 2 weeks (Sourcing a few smaller pieces)
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMG_6437.jpg
The day started by pulling the rocker and timing covers off. The engine looks very clean inside
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0162.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0163.jpg
(Cam on the right of the above pic is the 25' VTC)
After we took the covers off we had to remove both the timing chain, and the oil pump chain (Refer above picture), as I'll be running a K20 oil pump rather then the K24 one... and after I compared the two, I was happy I made that decision
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0164.jpg
Top is the K24 oil pump, bottom is the K20 oil pump (This needs to be slightly modified). As you can see, K20 item is MUCH smaller, and uses MUCH less parts... so should make a few extra KW.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0165.jpg
Here is a picture of the crank... again... nice and clean.
K20 oil pump fitted
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0166.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0167.jpg
After this, we moved onto fitting the 50' VTC. This is a fairly basic procedure, as it's just loosening the old 25' VTC, then replacing it with the 50' VTC.
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0168.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0169.jpg
After the VTC was fitted, we fit everything back together, which was a little bit trickier then we thought, as we were worried about stretching both the timing chain and the oil pump chain. But once everything was fitted, everything lined up, and nothing was stretched
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0170.jpg
http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y12...a/IMAG0171.jpg
Here is a pic of everything fitted before we put all the covers back on.
We put the J's Racing K20 Baffled sump on, which was basically the only "issue" from the entire day! The K24 sump is made of a thin steel, where as the K20 sump is made of a cast metal, so we couldn't use the bolts from the K24 sump. As I found out Hondabond is great stuff, so I'll be taking the bolts from my current K20 when I take it out in 2 weeks!
Final pics with RBC and Skunk2 70mm throttle body fitted!

I'd like to thank Jimmy for BYP, as he has helped me a fair bit with parts and information on my current build.
If anyone has any questions, let me know
45SET you got game hahah! Hope all goes well man, looking likes its coming along really well.
Oh btw we past 1k Replies and almost at 30k Views! Thanks everyone :)
its all about what da chix want bro, what we want dont matter.
also i thought of a really stupid reason of why i don't want a dc2r. i drop my mate off home most days and he's BIG, always turns his legs over, sits sideways and gets out of the seat. I could see any "bucket seat" becoming "not a bucket seat" in a matter of seconds. gsi seat is flat as fk on that side :(
i know all you guys experience the pain of careless bastards, e.g. cunce walking past and their bag scratches your car. or BENDS your mirror in to get through etc. stay strong boys
My girlfriend doesn't like hatchbacks or coupes. She wants a medium sized sedan, in black. My Integra does absolutely nothing for her. I imagine she'd possibly prefer a Prelude, as it's got that flat, Silvia shape to it. It's a bit more of a baller car than the Teg.
charlie ur solution get vtir and only change drivers seat
n yea we'll catch up some time so I can show you
Yeah Indie, the cars i've noticed that chix dig on guys are the s15, 350z, prelude 5th gen and anything that is audi or bmw -_- they dont like clean civics, wrxs, evos and most performance cars. why they all drive micras, echos/yaris, jazz beats me...
khanguskhan, i recall you said like 2 of your mates just bought vtirs with low km for wicked prices. do you know where they looked? i always browse firesport, carsales, tradingpost, gumtree and can't find shit
come nsw charlie and buy this yellow dc2r
http://www.carsguide.com.au/search/v...&nr=D_28778664
He was just searching all over, he picked up his VTIR for like just under 8? including RWC, the previous owner didn't use it it belonged to his mother and she passed away and the car was just left there had like 100,000k kms which was good as, comp tested 232 hot across 3cylinders 228 for number 4? and the dyno numbers were really good too :D (very very sad dyno)
anyone else notice the paint on the rear bar and bit above it on the yellow one look funny?
couldve been in a rear end accident?
ahh you're right. could just be the photo but it'd be a good idea to take a look behind the boot trim.
Seeming as though there is a GSI on that site for the same price as a type r something really must be SUS lol
Who knows maybe it has been written off and repaired the paint looks ok just needs a proper inspection photos can always be deceiving tho
quick shot from today..

Got my alignment done finally after swapping out all of my suspension, specs were all over the place, toe on the left front in by an inch!
haha same here dude, just got my wheel alignment done after changing 75% of my bushings. toe settings were crazy!
Purchased ~ :
-NU Finish scratch doctor and NU Finish non abrasive polish
- Purchased Mugen pedal covers
- Purchased 1-5th Gear synchro
- Purchased Excedy Stage 1 racing clutch
- Purchased Windscreen iPhone holder
For my DC2R
Let me know how the NU finish scratch doctor goes mate. I tried the polish (should be called wax?)... was not impressed
hmmm, wax only shines so if you were trying to polish out blemishes and things it wouldn't really do much :/
Yep, i meant in regards to longevity and ease of application. It can get real messy with the liquid and it doesn't really shine at all tbh, just feels smoother for water beading. And if you get that shit on your trims... better go buy a bottle of trim detailer cos that shit won't come off otherwise
Lol Charlie u crack me
Up
That shit sure does stain like a MO-FO from past use :) just got metho to
Clean it up!
And the one I got is very easy to use rub on in
And easily wipe off, did u use the liquid polish or the metal container type?
The only reason I got the scratch doctor is to phase out my blemishes (light swirls) caused by previous owner
The orange bottle with the liquid ejaculate. Using metho so close to paint? To de-wax i was contemplating using it but ended up going with isopropyl alcohol just incase metho was too strong
wax and grease remover guys. spray can from supercheap for about $14. paint safe.
Started stripping and prepping, Tegs going to be Champion white!

Farkk nice man. Take that intake resonator out while you're at it. shits huge! keep us posted on the paint job!
Buffed and polished the ****er, still trying to run in my new clutch and GB recondition lol
Hand? Or using one of those orbital things?
Anyway buyer lowballed me after like 2 weeks... so i guess i'll be keeping my car a while longer. Made me waste my time getting rwc quotes and all sorts of shit while i'm in the middle of exams, ain't got no time for ****in around. I said 8500 firm no rwc first time around. Lowered to 8300 FIRM MEANS NO NEGO. So few days later he goes 7000 i take or 7500 with rwc. THE ****? dont understand no english?! aint gonna sell my car which ive had for less than a year at over $5000 loss
Ah Charlie for the love of low ballers -,- had the same issue with a guy wanting to buy my asr .. Price was $150 nego he said $125 I said yes then he says wait $100 it doesn't come with bolts... Fkn wankers these days -.-
Should i just sell for 7k... i cbf with dumb people coming to inspect and trying to nego. Does my head in
theres gonna be a loss either way just depends by how much lol is 7k gonna be enough to cover most for the new car?
