The waiting period scared a friend of mine who decided later to opt for the mits lancer:thumbdwn: which he got it on the same day.But i'll wait for the CIVIC..worth the wait !
WTF, ur frd go for MIT lancer? but anyway, ppl got right for their choice. I waitting for about 2 and half mth now, and i agree with u, new civic worth to wait that long~ hohoQuote:

Lancers are great value. 2.4L 115kw MIVEC engine for $19,990? Thats like Korean pricing, except with Japanese quality. Add to that, 5 years warranty, 5 years roadside assist and 5 years free scheduled servicing and you have a great deal. If not for the crappy interior then I'd definitely consider getting one. And when you consider that the base Lancer ES is also faster than the Civic Sport, damn.Quote:

Yes I have, have you?
I won't compare it to the Civic because the one I tested had some problems when closing the door. But I can say for a certainty that the doors were much better than a Mazda 3. The Lancer has a solid thud whereas the Mazda had more of a sharp clunk. And to be honest, maybe even better than the Mazda 6. Crappy interior designs aside, the Lancer is a very well built car and very quiet. More quieter than a Lexus IS250 infact.
but its resell value is not good as Honda made, anyway, if u after, go for it, if not, eye on others, hoho
Has anyone procured or who has thought of procuring a Hybrid CiViC HyBrid? If so it would be nice to know how much and how the vehicle performs. I into performance, fuel economy performance.

yeah... but lancer is cheaper. so u take some. u give some.
lancer is quiet. i guess the new warranty would give u a lil more ... i cant think of the word...
both the lancer and the civic are nice, but i picked the civic over the lancer IMO the civic has a more futuristic design and the techonology onboard is incredible.
the civic is also safer in its class. it got car of the year in japan 2006 and a 6 star crash rating (which is eqivilant to 5 stars here).
but more importantly the new civic gives the car and the driver a much more sense of security. the civic is solid, the lancer well.... i guess just like any typical jap car in its price range (no offense to the lancer drivers :p )
Lancer? A stupid car. I guess the price is ok, but the design is about what 7-8 years old and its also a Mitsubishi. That says it all really. The Evolution is great but the rest of the Mitsubishi range? :thumbdwn:
EVO has the same Cedia chassis as the Lancer. Please research first.Quote:

they are not bad cars at all. the only downsides of the new lancer is that it is a good 200kg heavier than the 8th gen civic and the crappy interior.
Question. is there any secret compartments in the new civic?
PM me if you know some.
thanks
The Lancer is actually lighter than the Civic. The old 2.0L 92kw model managed a time of 9.7s for the 0-100km/h, which is around the same as the Civic VTi.Quote:

Does the Mazda3 or Lancer have a chassis design incorporating a no-penetration zone like Hondas and Toyotas have?
Don't know about the Lancer but the Mazda3 has a 'Triple H' design designed to help against side and offset impacts and some other design that's supposed to keep the cabin relatively intact.

vti - 1180
vti-l 1180
sport -1260
(all manual weights)
My mistake, I got the figures confused with the 2.0L models.
VRX is 1285kg.
yah ahh well its all cool
either way i would take the civic any day :D
its all cool!
The Civic is a great car, don't get me wrong.
I just wish people will show some respect for other cars. No car is rubbish. Unless we're talking Daewoo, or Holden badged Daewoos (*cough Barina, cough Viva). I defend the Civic as well when other people call them rubbish on other forums.
True, no cars are garbage or worthless. If you think a car sucks, you try and build a better one. Exactly.

hey. just a question. you know when u peel off the " fuel consumption" sticker on the window. and also the dealer sticker on the window etc...
what shoudl i use to wash off the left over sticky bits?
not sure if its safe to use citris. or metho spirit. dun wanna scread off the shine...
I use Autoglym car window cleaner. A cheaper alternative is Meguiar's Window cleaner. Spray it on a soft cotton cloth and then wipe the residue off.Quote:

yes, there is a lag as it is drive-by-wire, maybe the computer does not react fast enough?
Yup, the electronic throttle's a little laggy. There's a 0.5s lag between you press the throttle and when it goes.
read on the 8th civic US forum, that this lag problem ia quite apparent now.Its some dws or sort is creating this accelaration lag.Apparently they want to have a petition so that they can email to Honda America to highlight this issue.Im not aware of how serious this problem since i received my car yet.but thinking abt it, i might i have experienced the lag during test drive.
Maybe we ought to create a new thread.Wonder if any other civic owners felt this lag? does it happen in both the R18 and k20a sports model??
yeah.. the lag sucks. but getting use to it. its a lil scary when ur on a hill and u stall it.
I haven't felt any lag in my VTi, but I haven't really been looking out for it.
I'm about to hit 1000kms on mine, in just over a week ;)
There is a lag, but it seems to be common on drive by wire cars.... grrr.. our euro does it as well as our Mk 5 GTI (although not as much). Unfortunately thats what happens when a computer needs to respond to what you're doing. Thats why I loved the monaro, classic throttle cable yo!
Unless the "computer" is operating on punch cards or something similar I can't see how it can be at fault. The software running on the computer may need some adjusting but there's just no way that the microchip could be causing lag between foot and engine, it would be software causing this problem and should be easily fixed.
If you're stalling going up a hill, you're doing something wrong (don't blame the car).Quote:

unless you are at a set of lights half way up the hill and waiting for it to go green, (we have some absolute bastards of hills in perth in the city). i saw some nub p plater trying to over compensate for the hill and lay down an ALMIGHTY...... *chirp* from his getz and get flagged down by a bastard ass mean cop.
edit - omg so many freaking typos
ya. its not the car. its me.Quote:

Yeah I ordered there too! Mine is manual white VTI, so I am guessing our cars are arriving together.
I know the cars will get off the boat on tuesday (10th) but will take a couple of days to clear customs. so hopefully earliest maybe 14th (sat) or mon (16th) we can get our cars....
Been waiting so long........ Which salesman did u go through btw?
My salesman was David.
Are you getting any accessories with it?
Ya, David as well, he told me i can get my ride around mid of next week, can't wait for it. I got paint protection, window tinting and possible fit foglight, depend on the price he can offer to me. due to add such item on my ride, i think i may get it back home next end of week, maybe Sat, hohoQuote:

yeh i got my civic about 2 weeks ago...so i had to wait close to 3 months...and it's a great car...i got mine from Eastern Honda which is in Doncaster, VIC...im getting my sound system in tomorrow!!
Only gay thing is you can't change to an after market head unit...or can you?
So i had to buy what they call a Six Channel Line Output Converter which is about 300 bucks and 90 bucks to install professionally...what a rip off...
