Thats a good price, cnt c u beating it. Perhaps give St George or taleb Tyres a go, but they generally dont stock too many sizes.

yea i have. price is really expensive compared to others i got quoted. just the other places i have tried with good pricing cant get a set of 4. :S

can anyone suggest tyres for 205/45/17?
currently running yokohama s.drives and getting quoted for $259 per wheel to replace them (in canberra at the moment). is this about right or can i get them cheaper somewhere else?
edit: hmm i think this size is more expensive for some reason, gonna try quotes on 215/45/17 instead. looking towards adrenalins from all the suggestions.

Some background: After talking to the new performance shop opened up in my area I was looking for a replacement for my much loved, although harsh and noisy Yokohama AD07's. I was considering AD08's, but was taken for a ride in their FN2R on the Federal 595 RSR equivalent R compound tyre and was immediately impressed with the quiet ride and huge grip. I was told these tyres have had a couple of track days at Mallala with great success.
When it came to my decision the RSR was $340 per tyre fitted in the above size, and as I do the 70km round trip on the highway to my girlfriends' place 2-3 times per week I need something biased towards commuting.
So the 595 EVO's (popular for motorkhana) were put on instead and transformed the car instantly, the ride was quieter and so much more bearable. The AD07 tread depth was quite shallow when new and lasted me 20,000km which I'm satisfied with, while the EVO tread depth was far deeper like most tyres available. Tread block movement was the biggest difference I needed to get used to before I could trust the new rubber, but sidewalls are relatively solid.
I have tried these regularly now on my favourite pieces of road and have got to say that although steering response is slightly softer, outright grip and predictability has the measure of the AD07 up to 9 to 9.5 tenths when pushed, in the dry. However when wet (ie; standing water etc) the EVO is somewhat more trusting and predictable.
I highly recommend trying these for serious street grip.
