Tyre Recommendation thread

Falken ZE912s' aren't that flash, had them for abit and they are an ok tyre. Try the KUMHO KU31's, I've had the KU36 and they were awesome in the dry but average in the wet. Can't say about the others, haven't even heard of Starfire?

Anyway, if you cars' never gonna see a race track; don't bother with Nitrogen. It's molecules are lighter than Oxygen but you wouldn't notice that much of a difference to begin with unless you really give the car alot stick. Apparently, Nitrogen doesn't expand as quick as Oxygen when it gets hot so the pressure remains more stable (more to do with trackwork).

Whoops, Starfire is a Cooper tyre apparently. Heard the name but never used them before.

Thanks I will do some research on the Khumo brand, never used them before.

Biggest plus for Nitrogen on my point of view is I'm lazy/busy to keep manually checking pressures all the time, it's like every car I've ever had needs pressures checked at least once a month, usually once a fortnight. Now if I get them filled up at the guy over the road, he guarantees 100% nitrogen with his $4k filling machine and also gives free checks and topups for the life of the tyre. So whenever I get a balance/rotate done or anything, they just check it then. Saves me the hassle. Got it done in the Mrs car as well, last thing I need is for her to get stuck checking it with three screaming kids in the car. I'd never hear the end of it!!

If you have to top up the air in your tyre every few months then something is wrong. Ie problem with the rim or valve.

What are peoples experiences with Toyo Proxes T1r? Tyre place also suggested Kumho KU31.

I'm thinking about getting the Toyos in 215/40/16 for my dc2r. This size and profile is not commonly available in all brands.

How much would these roughly be? Should there be any other tyres to look at?

I run T1R on my Civic, they are good. I paid 175 per corner fit and balance 205/45/16. Shop around as prices vary. Your size will cost more no doubt, but not by much.

KU31 is good, but T1R is a bit better. If you can stretch ur budget, get Bridgestone Adrenalin RE001s, they are superior to both.

Do you track ur car? In that case you might wanna look into semi-slicks like Toyo R888.

KU36 isn't a semi-slick, just a high performance road tyre. Save the "semi-slick" label for actual R-compounds whose performance is in a different league.

nah no tracking, but want a nice tyre.

I normally dont care, but the toyos 'look' like a mean tyre....... having said that I'm also after a reasonable tyre so I think I might go the T1r

Ordering tyres on Monday. I am deciding between two tyres... (unless someone can convince me otherwise)

Yokohama Advan Neova AD08
Dunlop Direzza Sport Z1 Star Spec

Does anyone have any experience with these as I believe they are both new-ish to the market. The Dunlops are on special at $32 less per corner. I know the AD07 was a great tyre - does the newer AD08 continue this quality?

I have used the AD07 and the Z1 SS and found the Z1 to be better/faster, however I am unsure how much grippier the AD08 is over the AD07. They were both loud, wore fairly quickly and had pretty stiff sidewalls. For comparison I did a 1:44 flat at Winton on the AD07s and 1:42.8 on the Z1s with passenger but also with header and ECU. Unless you are racing competitively where the last few tenths matter, and in that situation you would test both to see which was the fastest, then I would go for the Z1s and buy yourself something nice with the change.

Can anyone suggest me a tyre for my rims, 18x8 18x9 +38 on a euro, ive asked and been suggested 225/40/18 or 235/40/18 and also need help on what tyres to get,

Right now in my head i have a few tyre choices from some research:

1.Bridgestone Re001
2.Khumo Ku31
3.Toyo Proxes 4
4.Yokohama S-Drives

Only need decent tyre for daily driving with some spirited runs once in a while, preferably with decent tread wear,not going to be doing anything track related, budget is around $800.

has any1 used the hankook k415?
