Hey Will13 Same as DC5 and S2k!
awesome, i did search but some of the advice was contradicting itself and i couldnt find a clear answer. thanks!
Good prices :)
What prices? I might be interested.
Link?
Hey guys brought an EP3 about 2 weeks ago. Just waiting for it to be shipped over.
Look forward to going on some meets in the future.
Haven't driven one before but coming from a few Evo's and GTR's it should be interesting.
Interesting to read about people using different oils. Any advice on what oil to be using in winter. In the past I have used 300V 10/40 in both winter and summer.
Also what plugs are you guys using?
Welcome Welcome. Tell us when you finally get the car than il start organising a cruise. Havn't been on one for a while so there should be one coming up soon
Would be a fairly large cruise considering I am in Melb :P
Welcome! nice choice of car... good to see another EP member in melbourne too!
Currently using Castrol Edge 5w-30, previously used it all year round for about 3yrs on the 180sx...
Plugs I'm using atm: NGK Iridiums ZFR6FIX-11
You can also use the NGK Iridium IFR7G-11K, also saw someone using the BKR6EIX-11, you could also use the BKR7EIX-11
Dam thats too bad than.
Anyways i use mobil 1 5w30 all year round and im currently testing penrite enviro 5w30. I also use BKR7EIX-11 plugs from NGK.
Thanks guys.
Yer havent got too much knowledge on oil haha, all I know is its better to run thinner in the winter. Thanks for the tips.
Anyone tried using NGK coppers. I tend to prefer coppers as you cant get a better spark from anything else.
Ross
I've just done my service with 5w30 Edge Sport. Plugs I'm using are NGK IFR7G-11KS.
I noticed the engine runs a lot quieter with the Edge Sport compared to whatever was in there previously.
I always thought iridiums can conduct the same as the copper plugs. Its just that the platinum plugs can not conduct the same as copper but they can last for quite a long time. Iridiums also have a similar life span to the platinum ones and should give out a spark similar to the copper ones.
From what I know copper has the best spark of all plugs.
Platinum and Iridium's have a longer life but do not create as much spark they are also more likely to foul. (Do not quote me)
Do any of you guys have an oil catch can? I was thinking of getting one after watching people draining them on youtube.
Re: Servicing.
I use Shell premium compressed air. Don't know what type of compressor they use but it has been quite reliable for all my tyres and has always kept them inflated. DIY coming soon. Was also thinking of posting it on YouTube?
Rocker Cover Paint WFT
All the red paints falling off WTF is coming on?

usually oil vapour luke does that. Mines the same in places.
WTF! Vtecing too much lol....
Quite common. I've seen a few ep with cracked paint or loss of paint.
mine's started to crack :(
I may buy a brand new one when I do my valve clearance. They're about $300ish for a new one.
When you have time, get the old one sprayed and sell it. Or maybe just sell as is to recoup money. That's my plan.
I see cracks!
I have peeling in one corner. Doesn't seem to be getting any worse though. *Touch wood*
Is there that much variance in the type of compressor used to pump your tyres? Can someone explain the idea behind it, as it's a bit odd to think that where you inflate your tyres would have any significant impact on on-road performance (esp power figures on a dyno).
LOL. I was thinking the same too.
Whatever they are pumping, it's still the same gas that we breathe from the air I believe.
No no no munki and the poiter....you have it way wrong. The air produced for special compressors, as mention give out much denser air (similar to the air super steve and I breath). Now without getting too tethnical, this special air will load the side walls of your tyres more hence more grip and will also keep air temps down.
I hope chubby steve will chime in as he was the master of this art. There was a rumor me cheated when obtaining a fast WSID run by tapping this air into the cai giving the car secret super powaaaa!
Would like the hear the technical side of it, I'm just trying to get my head around it :). Just using what I learnt from uni..
If we assume that air is an ideal gas, and that you are trying to pump more dense air into the tyre.
P = density * R * T
Then more dense air implies that at a given pressure, you will keep temps down as you mentioned above.
By loading the sidewalls, do they flex more or less? (Don't know much about tyre deformation) I would think they flex less so that they can put power down better? Would you run any different tyre pressures given the more dense air?
Edit: Cooler Tyre Temp = Less elasticity in the side wall = Less Flex?
Or am I WAYYY OFF. Let me know! Would love to learn.
Hmm I would had thought flexing of the sidewall will affect cornering more than just putting power on the ground.
Maybe on launch when all the weight transfer goes towards the back, so the aim is to maintain a solid rear end to keep the front end down, hence allowing for greater front wheel grip. One way is obviously to have a firm suspension in the rear, so I assume having sidewalls that don't flex prevents the rear wheels from deforming too much, thus keeping front end down.
I'm sure there's a term for this but I don't know what it is lol.
Edit: This is all a stab in the dark until someone confirms hahaha. Just trying to reason. But yes, on circuit I would think sidewall flex would have a significantly greater influence.
I think you're getting too technical arent you, just fill it up with hydrogen if you want to be safe and you will be fine
Also anyone know who would stock Motul 5W40?
and does anyone have the part number for copper plugs, oil and fuel filters?
Having a bit of difficulty talking to Honda dealers as soon as they hear import, its like they dont want to know me haha.
Like banana. B.A.N.A.N.A
jdmyard should stock some 5w40.
Anyone with a spare set of headlight for sale? Give me a holler!
just service.. ran through motul engine clean, then replaced with nulon 5w30... so much better.
Try Motul 5W30. That is meant to be one of the best
All you ballin' street racers!
motul 300v 5w30 is $$$$$. autobarn stocks motul 5w40 8100 for around $75, not bad. but im going to try oem ultra 5w30 for my next service and also cheap too.
Does Autobarn stock 5W30 Motul, I havent seen it?
Repco is an authorised dealer for Motul. I use to buy 300v there few years back. It was like $90-$100 for 4L!
ive only used 300v not ballin!
RBC Manifold for sale in for sale thread to suit EP3 =]
I will check repco tomorrow or the next day.
Looked at fuel filters they're around $80 :O
er its like 20bucks oem
JDM Concept has OEM ones for $80 unless theres something i missed
Hey guys, I just had my Toda Cat-Back Exhaust fitted today and it's making a strange noise near the mid-section. Apparently, the exhaust is rattling against the underbelly of the car.
Have you guys heard of this issue previously and/or any solutions to it?
Stiffer engine mounts, rear one mainly!
I'm not quite sure that's the problem.. apparently the knocking sound was from the piping hitting the underbelly.
I don't want to fork out money for new stiffer mounts and get the same result :S
You guys are funny, you ask for advice, then when you get it, you try and dispute it? How is the rear mount any stronger than the rest?
This place is about to blow ow ow ow ow!
What strange noise is it? I had a plate that was rattling at around 3-4k. Got it replaced and it went away.
Hey guys,
Anyone changed their diff oil yet?
A friend who's got an EP3 swears by using REDLINE gear box oil opposed to the standard MTF... Anyone tried any variations of different oils?
Thanks guys
I have a few mates who rate the redline lightweight shockproof very very highly...will be trying it out soon
Cause some replacements either have the sides+front or sides+rear, im just curious to know about the stiffnessss of the rear.
Great ! Cold morning and car won't start ! Fml !

Those are some nice photos :).
How come everyone has stock wheels? Do you guys love it that much? Maybe i should keep my wheels stock so i wont ruin the photos if i come for a photo shoot....
Who drove the black EP3?
Dave, but he is not on the forums
havent got enough money to get new wheels since theres a guy parting out volks, need to get rid of my bike first...
