Tyre Recommendation thread

Car: Ford Fairmont AUII 2000 [Workhorse car lol]
Preference(s): Comfort, Noiseless
Previous Tyres: C-Drive [195/50R15 on EG & AE111], RE001 [205/50R16 on AE111], AD07 [XXX/XXR16 on EG], RE-01R [XXX/XXR16 on EG]
Previous Tyre(s) on Car: Bridgestone Turanza ER30 [215/60R16], Bridgestone Turanza ER300 [225/55R16]
Current Tyre(s) on Car: Bridgestone Turanza EL64 Serenity Plus [215/60R16]
Mileage: 100km
Comment: Well my family has been with Bridgestone for a long time now and recently the old ER30 [Still in production apparently?!] look very much worse for wear [Front were slicks, rear were semi-slicks] needed to be replaced. Talking with my parents, they wanted to see if any other tyres were worth trying but Yokohama and Goodyear didn't offer something that they wanted [Comfort and Safety above all else] so it was back to Bridgestone.

Its been ~3yrs since they've had to replace the ER30 and Bridgestone has released quite a few new tyres that could suit their needs. Talking with Bridgestone Castle Hill, Ian recommended from memory Ecopia EP100 or the Serenity Plus EL64. Parents went with Serenity Plus EL64.

Initial impressions are... WOW 10yrs difference in tyre technology, EL64 is so smooth and sexy even with the rubbish/worn Pedders shocks & springs. It's dead silent and handles imperfections nicely. I will update this when we hit 1000km =)

Updated Comment: So its been ~1mth with a variety of weather and road conditions with no issues thus far. I'm happy with its dry weather performance and comfort, being all season tyres the outright grip can't be compared to the likes of Summer Tyres but compared to others, I believe they handle themselves very well.

In the wet, I have much more confidence than before. Wet braking performance has increased dramatically [This was before and after brake pad swap and fresh brake fluid]. Traction control was necessary sometimes because it was horrendous no matter how much you modulate the accelerator >< Now with these, I can almost plant it and no issue what so ever even at speed [90kph on James Ruse Dr] in the wet for test sake, I had no aquaplaning/tracking issues =)

good tyres for street but track days every once or twice a year????

205/45/15 ?? budget under $170 ??

please help me , I got no clue when comes to tyres lol. Dont wanna get sucked into some when i walk in heheh

Just got some Bridgestone Sporty Style My02 fitted for 519 including Nitrogen inflating, ultra ride balancing and wheel alignment. So far so good. These are ment to be competing with tyres such as kumho ku31's as per Bridgestone sales rep.

Still need help? 205/45R15 are rarely to nearly not existing. Are you sure that's the right size? If you care about noise consider one of the bigger brands, or stick with the Ultra High or High performance range, and not the Extreme or Max performance range. Yoko's are known for making really quiet tyres, something like the S.Drives are alright, not the best track tyre, but decent, or consider Nitto Invo if your on a budget which are fairly quiet and grippy. Unfortunately Noise is proportional to grip, so don't expect anything semi slick to be grippy.

I need 2 new tyres.

Have re002 on the back, would like another 2 for the front but apparently brdegestone have stopped making them

205/45/16.

Any other suggestions?

Dont want to spend much more than $220 a tyre.

What are you looking to get out of them? Wear/Noise/Grip etc. RE050/A would prob be the logical replacement. S001 are meant to be the replacement for the RE050 but apparently aren't as good.

I called Bridgestone again and their PC was playing up and do have the RE002 in stock. All sorted.

Didn't want to make a new post but I'm looking for 2 new tires. I've done some research and narrowed it down to:
- Federal Formoza FD1
- Pirelli P6
- Yokohama A Drive

Tyre I need is: 175/65 R14 for an ek.

Do you guys have any other suggestions/provide feedback on those tires or know which is best from above? Looking to spend in that range ($100 per tyre) and have some decent life aswell.

First tyres I had on the car (since the first thing I did was put new rims) were Pirelli p6's on my cl9
225/40 r18, lasted a good 35-40k km, very good grip, would almost never slip in the wet
