wait.. u replaced the OEM muffler with the MP01 and u now wanna replace tat??
No... There are two mufflers..
yeah theres two mufflers essentially.. so theres another restrictive piece of piping behind the "muffler".. i can see this discussion getting very very confusing LOL.
i havnt really looked under my car yet, but i assume its like most car, the exhaust system shud hav 1 to 2 cats, 2 mufflers and resonators to low down the emission and noise level. those are the areas where air flow is most restricted.
yeah, thats how it is, just needa get rid of the second muffler and it should be enough for sound, dont want something that will attract coppers =D
I wanna get muffler for my FD2 but not sure what type to go for.....and i am very confuse now after reading 19pages
hahaha. what you tossing up between though? if you want sound.. make sure u get the shop to replace the second muffler with a "sportier" pipe as well, or the new muffler wont make a huge difference except on back-off (which on my xforce sounds very nice)
I want sound but not too loud cause i use to have a Cannon on my old car, drives every one crazy lol
so i do want sound but not too loud
oh.. hahaha. well just get like.. anything but a canon then i guess lol. like a twintip muffler. xforce is prety good, i'd recommend it, there is some sound, but its not really loud, but if you replace the second "muffler" with something better then you'll prob get the right balance of sound
if u just replace the rear muffler with a cannon, it wouldnt be as loud as any older cars because of the number of mufflers and resonators in between engine and the muffler. but a very good design for low noise is the mugen style twin loop design, the exhaust gas passes through the muffler twice to lower the noise. i had it in my mazda 3, i had a straight thru stainless steel mandrel bend cat back (no cat, no resonators) and a twin loop muffler for street use which i find the noise is still exceptable and it does give a noticeable difference is low end torque comparing to my track set up (switching to cannon for track)
