^^so.. supposed to be for 2nd O2 only and useless on primary O2?
i've only ever had 1 o2 sensor on all my cars ;)
Yeah primary one reads lean/rich and adjusts the car in closed loop. i.e leans out the car to 14.7:1 for better fuel economy when cruising.
The second one is cat failure one.
Either way i think its a waste of money. The first sensor will not work properly if you move it & the second sensor if you have it is so far back anyway its not gonna matter or make much difference
That's my understanding. There is no reason to put a defouler on the 1st O2 sensor because the first sensor tells the ECU whether you are running rich or lean. So you want your 1st sensor to be in the exhaust gas flow. Any CEL would be either Rich, Lean or sensor failed. So you want to take some sort of remedial action if the 1st sensor throws a code, not to put a defouler in like a bandaid solution, which just stops the O2 sensor from working properly, causing your engine to run rich without the ECU knowing it or worse, lean without the ECU protecting the engine by adding more fuel.
The 2nd sensor tells the ECU whether the cat is still working. So if you have a high flow cat, you can get cat efficiency CELs, which you would then want a defouler since the purpose of the high flow cat is to sacrifice efficiency for higher flow.
bump.. so does any1 know where to get one? i've been to repco and supercheap.. they dont know wtf im on about.. hahaha
Tried ebay?
im gonna get one fabricated this weekend hopefully. will let every1 know how it goes!
