basically the clear coat has a thickness, measured in microns, it has to be a scratch you can easily feel with your fingernail before it needs painting/clearcoating.Quote:

if u use a cut and polish by hand on a nice new car or any car with a good 2 pac paint ( euro paint for eg) you will make the paint cloudy. U could improve it by trying nxt wax www.meguiars.com.au or take it to a detailer or smash shop and they can fix it for you.

and yes, paint protected cars can be buffed etc etc, although, the area u buff will have no paint protection on it anymore so either, dont worry bout it or get it reapplied.
