How thick is the wiring on the dim light? The wire has to be thick enough, maybe 1.5 to 2mm and you can use that. If it is the thin type of wiring, then I wouldn't really risk it, just in case that wire's power spec is just enough for the dim lights and ends up being overloaded with the superbright LEDs.
From the pics, there should be 2 more screws beneath the ashtray, which you get to by removing the gearstick trim first, as per my PM. There are wires under the trim because you have seat warmers, so be careful not to pull it out too hard. You can disconnect the seat warmer wiring after that because it is connected using a plug. Be warned that pulling the gearstick trim wrongly can result in a cracked trim or broken clip.
I don't like messing with wiring from the fusebox, especially if you are not experienced in car electricals. Plus, if you tap a wire that is before the fusebox, then you don't have any fuse protection for the lights. Worse yet, wiring before the fusebox is always on, so you will drain the battery if you don't use a relay.

ok the trim thing is confusing me a bit, any chance u can draw an arrow or circle on my uploaded pic to show me where u mean?
also with the dim light, its showing thru the cover/trim thing underneath the steering wheel. so i have to remove that cover first. i dont noe where the clips are that are holding it. i think most cars have this cover tho. once i get past that i shud be able to see the wiring,
