Found out that RTA will be applying this new law to all new riders UNTIL they turn 25yo, then you are able to apply for a full license.
So if you apply for your L's, and you are 23, then you do a year and a half of L's + P1's, then you go for P2's and turn 25 after a month, your free to go for full license.
-
so can anyone confirm what will happen to people who already have l's or p1 license before june?
-
if you get your p's before june you're safe
otherwise you've gotta do 3 years
unless you turn 25 during your green p's, then you can get your fulls
-
it will the be the same as when the P plate turbo restrictions came into place i got my P's 26 days before the law and was exempt even though every one told me i would have to sell my car etc so if you have your P's now or before june then you'll be safe

there are too many reckless riders and drivers out there....
these laws are here to protect everyone and not to reduce their fun under the sun.
Glad I've been on my fulls for 5 years now

So what would happen in the instance of a loss of license.
You have your reds before the legislation, but loose them until after the legislation is put in place ?????
Not that I lost my license, just curious :-)
-
If its just a 3/6 mth suspension, nothing will happen...
If you take it to court, and lose, you will probably have to re-start your current license, the new laws will prob apply to you.
-
Is this confirmed 100%

Need to go buy my bike now then lol, book my P's before June..
This is a joke of a law imo.
-
it's only a joke for ppl who can't get straight onto a bigger bike.... end of the day these rules are there to protect riders out there - having come off my bike a while ago has just made me realise that it's not like the driving regs for nsw...
least if u make a simple mistake in a car there are still a good chance you will survive... any simple mistake and u come off on ur bike in traffic - there is a good chance of some serious injuries if not death....
my opinion.... if u dont agree then that's fine... but i have known of ppl who have come off and died... a extra 2 yrs riding is good experience to gain .... will make you a all around better rider

I also reckon people who rode 250 for a year till they get their fulls they jump straight to 1000 which is fine but thats a big jump from 250 to 1000 then let say 250 to 600 where 1000 you gotta know how to control the throttle because one mistake can send the bike flipping
