battery strength is a big one... if its a new system what you can do is use a more 'powerful' battery. This will emit a 'more powerful' signal allowing you work it further away.

*Word of warning... its probably gonna wreck the alarm transducer but that usually gets sorted out via warranty. Mate did that in his golf and hasn't hand problems yet. practically doubled the factory distance

my experience, batt strength impact on the range is to minimal to even bother.
