This would all depend on what power range your in with a B-series. Yes i do realise the B's can put out alot, but if your running it near the danger zone, imo the same thing would happen if you got a boost spike of 4psi...

There's alot of guys that have boost spike with internally gated turbo's.
Even the built ones seem to go pop here in OZ
There are a few going round that are wicked but the guiys really new what they were doing when they built them.
I blew a HG first on only 7psi on a motor that had only done 96,000km
Fixed that but the bottom poped about a 1.5 years after that
At first, at least you only blew a HG, alot of the turbo guys strongly suggest to use ARP head studs, much stronger than OEM head studs. But i have also heard alot of them running stock head studs on +10psi...
For me:
* Car model 92-95 Honda Civic Hatchback
* Engine model D16Y8 SOHC VTec
* full built motor, only stadard thing left was crankshaft and camshaft
* Torque i cant remember
* Power 152kws at 11.5psi

Thanks myztery. That's an awesome result from 11.5PSI. I'd be heaps happy with that.
How does it run? What standard car would you compare it to now in terms of acceleration?
hmmm boosted D nothing wrong with a boosted D :)
Seriously man, you give too little credit to D motors.
I know you've had a bad experience, but any engine would blow if you took it too far - Bs or Ds. Obviously Bs are stronger than Ds, but a well built D can last a lifetime. I'll be running 12PSI on an engine that I built myself and I don't expect it to ever blow while I'm still driving it. :)
So yeah myztery, how does your car compare?
Everyone else, please feel free to post your figures.
Don't get me wrong bro as I loved my boosted D :thumbsup:
I drive her hard and fast every day for years!
I was planning to build just before she blew but decided got go the DOHC VTec to leave me room to build for big numbers down the track if I want or just safe PSI on a stock motor.
Unfortunately I went to WSID on very hot days and did some damage I believe,. she blew on the dyno the following weekend.
I now understand why close to one else turned up that day lol
The main problem with boosted SOHC VTec is the power brand and lack of constant
torque.
You need really big numbers to get good times
SOHC VTec D16Y1 11psi 137kw
14.55 2.4 60 footer 99MPH 205 Torque but only stays there ever so briefly
DOHC VTec B16A 6psi 136kw
14.1 104MPR
DOHC VTec B16A 8psi 151kw
13.6 2.3 60 footer 107MPH 205 Torque but stays there till red line
