Firstly, change to one of the following oils immediately: 0w-30, 5w-30, 10w-30, 0w-40, 5w-40 or 10w-40.
30w-60 is too thick and will cause wear and possibly damage to moving parts in the head which also rely on oil for lubrication.
Secondly, the ECU uses a richer fuel map after vtec crossover in order to compensate for the additional air coming from the higher lift and also to protect the engine from having a lean condition.
-
sounds like typical vtec smoke to me.
-
mate to tell u the truth i had same problem switched to castrol edge 10-60 and you know wat reduced smoke by heaps and the cr runs so much better neva neede to top up oil levels alsways the same top oil
-
ye changed oil the other day and it runs like a diff car.
-
You should see 2 integras drag racing. LOL biggest smoke bomb out. Can't see anything, and the smell of burning engine oil. MmmmMMmm YUMMYYYY
-
my car does the same thing. engine is a h22a4. during the day sometimes i see a grey/black haze in the rear view mirror.
at night it's more visible with all the headlights behind and i leave a long trail of smoke.
my dyno graph shows the AFR at ~11.8 at redline so it's pretty rich. hopefully my afc neo can lean it out...
-
i think its just our cars running too rich, or its not tuned.
-
i have the same problem as ya... was told by my mechanic that its most prolly stem seals that need to be replaced... i've yet to do it yet... when i do, i'll let you know if that works...
-
lots of smoke when accelerating means worn rings right?
afaik worn valve stem seals cause smoking once you engine brake/idle then get back on the throttle.
