still have pinging problems cant figure it out

familiar with the term arching out? turn on the engine in the dark and check for sparks from the leads, haven't seen many cases in Hondas, alot in cars with long insulation on the leads (Nissan Z cars I've owned in the past)

big long shot but never know as I can't hear the noise lol

ill probs be doing a carby sevice soon what dose it consists off coz i may as well do wit while all the airbox gear and that are off the car for when i pull rocker cover off

annd yeah its pinging its the same noise i had on my dirty old lancer when my timing was out thats y i first checked my timing with timing light

I remember my car was making a pining kinda noise, then it turned into a knocking noise and then a tractor noise and then just a loud bang lOl... my harmonic balancer came off, maybe check bottom end too?

hmm well if the motor blows it aint such a big deal coz it gives me an excuse to put a b18 in it but still would like to no and how do i check my harmonic balancer???????

well thankfully my motor didn't blow, we were able to save it and instead of a 3k rebuild it was $300 to replace the balancer lOl.

You would probably need to get it up on a hoist if possible, not sure where it is located on your car..

What happened with mine is a key or blot holding it in came lose and took a chunk out of my HB and shredded all my drive belt, lOl I opened the bonnet and my belt was sitting on top the engine! Have a look through my previous threads if you wanted more info:

i think it it was the harmonic balancer it would of came off via now since i gotta boot it so much 2 keep close with my b series mates lol

if it only happens when your driving, maybe its just some kind of lose metal in your engine bay or under the car thats flapping about?

does the sound get faster as you drive quicker?

nah its pinging coz it dose it most up hill when under a bit of load and that desbribes pinging pretty well cant cant bloody figure out y but the thing its it only dose it some times i can drive up the hill 1 day n wont do it then about 5 min later it will up the next hill
