EK4 front caliper and DC2 Vtir front are different
They run different pads too

oh? so only same rotor size?
i know 96spec dc2r's front and rear pads were the same as ek4's

EK Cxi and Gli are different.

EK Gli are like DC4/EK4/EG6 262mm and has rear disc.
EK Cxi is like EG4 242mm, drum brakes for rear.

EK9 is the same with DC2R 282mm.

knuckles are different too, as they accommodate different size calipers.

in regards to pads

Ek1 have their own
ek4 and dc4 are the same
vtir and 96spec jdm itr are the same
ek9 and dc2r are the same

Imo best upgrde would be to get Ek4 hubs second hand with rotors and pads.
set u back around 300ish + labour. Much better braking than Ek1
also consider converting rear drum into disc.
dont forget to change booster + master, and prop valve
