That's what I was thinking. I've heard it very common in the US and quite cheap. Australia is obviously a different story though.

hmmmm... not really... LS/VTEC just means replacing the head and tuning it accordingly. Its definitely cheaper than a complete engine swap but more likely to encounter complications. B20 VTEC is technically an LS/VTEC swap... if u want cheapest power thats probably ur best option.Quote:

B20 VTEC uses the 2.0L block out of a CRV with a B16 or B18 VTEC head. Its quite a torquey motor. Wont rev as high but makes good power considerably lower than the B18C. Its fairly popular to Turbo this motor but due to weak sleeves not much pressure is run (5-10psi) on standard block. Its pretty common to make 150-180kw on a pretty stock engine but if ur serious about doing this i suggest doing some research... IMO ur better off spending that money on a K24 swap coz the power will be fairly similar once built up.
Theres some pretty good build threads on here u may wana hav a read through.. that might make ur decision a bit easier, especially when u c how much work n trouble can be involved in boosting a VTEC motor lol
Engineers certificate makes it legal. They also check that the car is safe enough to be on the road, thus you will need to upgrade brakes.Quote:

I have no idea what it's like interstate but I'm quite certain that it does here in SA. Pretty much any engine or suspension upgrade deemed to enhance performance does. It's ridiculous. Most ppl here won't even bother attempting to get their cars off defect here if they have a bunch of serious mods. Sometimes it's easier to do a transplant back to stock motor.

b20 is sounding good to me. maybe one day lol
