I'd take this to court mate.
YOU have a VERY strong case.
umm i dont know about the people who are replying take it to court but i think he said he already did in the second comment "That incident was taken to court and my mate won. He kept the car and got 8grand from them (which isnt great but judge was an ass, didnt like cars)."
mechanic must have neglected that thing pretty bad, i have a boat in my backyard with a cover which is not even waterproof so there is always water inside the covers and it has less mold than your car, note this boat has not moved from that spot since last summer
fix it. sell it.
Hey. there was 2 mechanics from different companies. The first mechanic stripped it and swapped the engines, he was taken to court. The second mechanic was hired to fix the problems the first mechanic made and all he did was make the car worse. The Second mechanic is the one who left it outside open in the shit for the mold to grow etccc.
ok now it makes a lot more sense. sorry to say but from those pics that car isn't worth anything. all the Type R parts are gone.
- interior is long gone, you basically have to replace all the trim
- the recaros are not there (stripped out by the first mechanic?)
- titanium shifter is gone
- that intake plenum is not the Type R one with individual runners, it's the VTIR intake so probably a VTIR engine like you said.
- type R strut braces are not there
- rust water in the boot! hopefully that's just the spare wheel rusting but if it's the body then it's not cheap to fix.
since it's already been to court and IMO $8k is way too low, i'd sell it as as parts to get a bit more back. as a complete car, it's not worth anything.
- the body may get you a bit since it's the stiffer Type R chassis, good track base if someone is looking for one.
- VTIR motor if healthy can be sold to someone looking for a VTEC swap or civic owner looking for a B18 swap.
- JDM front is worth its weight since there's plenty of people who want the conversion.
Salvage what you can and part out. Theres alot of people on these forums that would be interested in the engine
poor car has seen better days lol. looks like its been driven into a lake or something.
I've seen this car back in the days before it was stripped and ****ed with, it was imported by AKmotorworks a few years ago and Andy took out the motor and sold the car wih a vtir motor to a mates cousin stating that it was a full type r. Court case from memory took yonks. After that everthing from the car was swaped with vtir stuff . Not too sure what happen after that
*heartbroken*
Poor car.
You won't get anything close to a reasonable price for you guys if you decide to sell it as is.
Like the others said, salvage what you can/want and then part out the rest.
Why isn't the owner taking any action, I would seriously kill the mechanic - no joke ak47 here I come.
Found the guys who did the work on facebook

Hope to see some intresting comments :).
I got dibs on the steering wheel, cluster and rear sway bar (if its original/still there) if you part it out. Dead serious.
