ok, its still hunting... but not as bad... now its between 950-1200.
did you check your plugs yet ??
though sounds to me like an O2 sensor if it's not the IACV.
BTW, the FVIV (choke-like device) is ONLY fitted on OBD-0 hondas..
EF civic is OBD-0, EG is OBD-1, EK is OBD-2..
Not sure about your setup ( I remember you did a B16 conversion) but check the following
1. Check TPS Voltage, .45V closed & 5V at WOT. If the TPS voltage is not corect, the ECU will dump fuel, causing a rich condition => Hunting
2. Check Base Timing, should be 14degrees. Fix if otherwise.
3. If you're running larger injrctors => rich
good luck
Ok, the only things left to check are what james has suggested... and the TPS co everything else is done :S
just coz you cleaned your IACV, doesnt mean its OK, it still could be at fault, see if you can borrow one from somebody and try swapping it over. reset your ECU after swapping it
will do!
Ok I replaced the IACV and the engine is still idling at 1200RPM and still hunting... WTF could be causing this?
I'd suggest trying a different 02 sensor - you've mentioned that your current one is working however the rate of response may be low - I had the same problem in my car after a rebuild on the engine...turned out that the 02 sensor was playing up - lacked power in the rev range but also hunted when idling, replaced the 02 sensor and it went away. :honda:
thanks I was thinking along the same lines as i had the same trouble with my ZC... replaced it and it solved one of a few problems...
Did u change ur coolant recently??
If so take the cap or the radiator and turn the car on and let run for and hour (i know seems like ages but the fans will come on and keep temps dowm dont drive just idle)
this will bleen the radiator and engine of any air in the system and should stop hunting u will c bubbles come up every now and then from the radiator. When thats done just top up any coolant needed.
well its a free option so i might as well try it.
PS the o2 sensor didn't fix it either.
