A lot of people say that their cars feel a bit slower but unless you have it dyno tested to check for a drop in power it's hard to tell whether the drop is real or just you getting used to the speed of your car.
Does it drive smoothly? Is it hugely down on power or just a little bit?
Been through this problem,
Change the vtec solenoid and see how you go.
Sounds like a drop in responsiveness. That wont change ur dyno result.
My (non vtec) prelude does it occassionally. And a friends dc5 did it for the first time last week.
Id describe the differance in feeling ive experianced similar to the responsiveness loss from a cold engine to a warm one.
I dont believe it to be the oil, or the petrol in my circumstance.
Cos i feel it only sometimes, id rule out spark plugs. Im thinking sensors or something.

Me? Yeah it happens most of the time..
my suggestions would be
- o2 sensor - might be dirty or seen better days and on the way out?.
- Heat soak - from the weather were having recently?.
- overfilling oil - this can give result of sluggish acceleration, I had to drrain mine cus stupid mechanic overfilled it.
- fuel filter needs changing - this can contribute on acceleration aswell.
- Spark plugs? - whens the last time they changed?.. the recommend changing them every 15000kms or depends how often you drive.
I could give more suggestions although try goin through them one by one :)
I am having same problem lately, the car feel no power before 4k rpm, I think time to change spark plugs, and do a tune up for the car.
I think it's because of the warm weather, and heat soak.
You shouldn't have a problem with heat soak if you have the pod sitting right near the splash guard,
Can you retune the car with stock ecu?
thats incorrect it all depends on the density of air. If its humid and hot, Especially when the ground is cooking you can still get heat soak..
The stock ecu can be retuned and can adapt to your current setup..
