So does that mean the car has been tuned if Vtec kicks in at 5000rpm? Chipped? etc....
Yeah, tuned or cheaply adjusted with a VAFC or w/e, chipped.
Its bad to change the vtec engagement point unless you have the supporting mods like a tuneable ecu and not just a vtec controller/vfac etc.
This fcks up the ignition/fuel maps and will cause strain on your motor/heads rather than giving you power.
Others ive seen even destroyed the motor due to detonation/pinging, running too lean/rich etc.
Dont change it unless u got a tuneable ecu and matching mods to suit.
Back to OP..
VTEC EP is 5600rpm low cam lobe then 5890-6000rpm for the high cam lobe.
How do I find out what has been done to my delsol. Vtec engages at 5000rpm. Visually I cannot see any Vtec controllers or VAFC thingy's.
Where is the computer located. If I have a look their do you guys think i'll find something?
What's EP and Lobe crxdel501?
I'll post some picks asap.
Thanks!
open your ECU and see if it has been chipped,
if its stock your tacho is out
As ecu-man said,
Open up your ecu and inspect. Have a look at the rom chip and see if there is any sticker on it.
Also look at the socket solders that holds that rom and see if it has been resoldered.
Ecu is located on the passenger kick panel behind the plastic cover.
EP = Engagement Point
Lobe = high and low or exhaust and intake camshaft profiles if its a DOHC VTEC.
Ok.............! Just got home and straight to the passenger kick panel.
VERDICT..............
1 X SUPERCHIPS Badge/computer resides in my sol.
Never heard of it before. Did a search, seems it's americal FL or UK 30years experience?
Anyone know what I may have?
Is it tuneable?
Who can tune it in Melbourne?
What's it worth?
It it anygood?
etc.
Car is surprising me as I didnt even realise that there was a full Apexi exhaust hiding underneath it until
I drove it home. Not sure what headers as alloy cover hides any badges that may be visable.
Many thanks again.
What are he visual differences between the 2 cpu's? Do they look different by looking at them or is there a code that distinguishes the two?
P28=soch vtec
p30=dohc vtec
Am I right to say this?
Mine is DOHC Vtec and has a "Superchip" Badge stuck on it.
