is my civic an ef9

I looked at that spot where the VIN is meant to be and nothing was there but just off to the left about 8 inches are a bunch of letters and numbers stamped in to the firewall (not on a plate) with the first three characters being EF9. Well there you go. The engine swap was done in japan so it must be a JDM motor, and the exhaust has 2 oxy sensors therefore apparently making it a b16a1. Also some interesting facts on the ef9 wouldn't go astray, I don't know heaps about honda's, but from what I understand the ef9's pretty good. Thanks everyone.

plus liquid paper if your car is white or coloured texter if you've got a coloured car :)

if you've got climate control, rear disc and japanese fuse diagram you should be fine. not many ppl willl go to that lengths for a gen 4 civic to look so jdm.
the original engine could of died and had to be replaced.

jdm ef9 : cable clutch gearbox
delsol : hydro clutch gearbox

well, the title must have the vin in it. If not, the vin has to be on the chassis. The Chassis code ist something with EF9 then thats what you've got. If you don't know, post pics of any metal plate found on your chassis in this thread. plenty of folks should be able to help you out.

If the engine is from a del sol, it is an A2. Only the A1 is found in the previous generation.

in japan the b16a2 is only labeled a b16a the jap spec engines dont have the number at the end

another way to tell determine which b16 it is, the rocker cover says VTEC then on the bottom says either-

honda motor co. (b16a1)

honda (b16a2)

The motor also has 2 air flow sensor tubes going into the intake pipe (one to rocker cover, one to throttle body) whereas apparently the aus spec is only meant to have one. And I believe the tranny has a cable clutch. Once again a request on interesting facts on the ef9.

the motor has nothing to do with it beenin a real EF9 as he posted that the engine has been replaced
