nope def everything is right...
I had a problem not long ago, when i installed the short shifter i noticed there wasn't much room to fit it, basically the shifter sat on top of the exhaust, so it was rubbing up against it. When the car was idling you could hear it rattling and when I put the car in 5th or reverse gear you could actually hear it tapping against the exhaust (very annoying) In the end i got it fixed by getting the exhaust moved by cutting it out and mandrel bending the pipe so that it ran around the shifter so it had enough room to play in.
Well mine doesn't hit the exhaust cos i put it up on the hoist and it is the bearing. It makes alot fo rattling in the cabin.
Remeber to use plenty of lube too guys.....and make sure your bushings are on properly.
What bushes? i didn't notice any on mine.......???? anyone got a pic so i can compare?
Unless you mean the little metal washes between the sides?
Hey guys,
Ive got a dc2 and had a problem with my shifter rattling too. It only did it in 1st 2nd and 3rd when i would back off the throttle. It wasnt bushings but the actual shifter balancer that sits back towards the exhaust touching it. It doesnt happpen with oem piping but i have an apexi exhaust and the hotdog is right behind it. So what i did was remove the exhaust and angle grind about 10mm of the balancer off the back and it solved the problem...
Hope this helps...
Also the best thing to do is to lift the car up with someone looking underneath and change gears etc. to see where the vibration is coming from.
Nah mine's not touch anything i looked
