well basically i can get the nos kit pretty cheap.. around 600.. i cant use nos on the street anyway coz my license is suspended. i was planning to have it set up under the pedal and have it tuned professionally.

Yes NOS is ok to use on a STD engine provided that it is used as PROECU said with a micro switch and only turned on with 100% throttle.But you need to retard the ignition timing by 2-4 degree's (this will change with different engines) when the NOS is on when using it on a STD engine.There are a few types of NOS systems around and if you want to run a 50hp shot just go and get yourself a ZEX kit and you can just retard the dizzy a couple of degree's of timing and then go and have some fun. :thumbsup:If you want the ultimate GSi setup go out and buy an ecu that can control NOS and tune it in correctly for the best result.One more thing how many guys that have replied to the original question have used NOS first hand not I read this and I heard that he has asked a question and all you guys do is just reply with answer's but yet you have never used it on your own car.There are a few reply's that are very good advice and very true but some are just speaking out of your arses.Quote:

I always use dry NOS setups for clients. Typically 50 or 75hp shoot on almost any standard engine is absolutely safe as long as its tuned correctly. For all my clients that iv tuned with NOS I make sure they all are using larger than stock injectors. The standard fuel pump is ok, but I also recommend this is replaced. 440cc size injectors are perfect for street NOS use. The kits I install are all dry kits with the nozzles / jets installed in each runner of the intake manifold. The car is perfectly tuned both mechanically and via in my case Hondata, for NA and then we tune with the NOS on top.
We have several levels of activation for the NOS, first is the tap on the bottle, this is the ultimate control of activation, the bottle is either on or off.
The 2nd level of activation is a toggle switch (with flip cover) mounted on the dash which works in to fold.
If the switch is switched on, and the bottle is physically tuned on the Hondata will control the amount of NOS injected, the amount of fuel to add and the amount of ignition retard.
Typically I set the following parameters,
Minimum engine speed RPM to activate
Minimum engine load to activate
Minimum throttle position TPS % to activate
Minimum vehicle speed to activate
Then for safety I also set the following parameters, typically killing the activation of NOS 850rpm before redline, using
Maximum engine speed RPM to turn off
Maximum engine load to turn off
Like wise if the toggle switch is off then you will have zero activation of NOS, no extra unwanted fuel delivered, and the car will drive as per normal. This gives a very quick and easy way for more power when you want it from a flick of a switch.
The other way to wire up NOS is like they do in fast n the furious ;) push the button and instant power, again when I do setups like this I still setup minimum and maximum limits, if the engine isn’t within the correct limits you won’t get activation. In summary NOS is great, if that’s the kinda modification you want to do.

Fact is dry setup with ECU control and extra fuel from the injectors is the preferred way of setting up NOS
Actually if I’m quoting all the features we also have minimum intake air temperature control ;) also which I left off the list ;-) ehheeh but this can be annoying so its not used very often
