hmmm...you not plainning to keep it??? you might get a bit higher....but dont count me on that...cause i met friends that do work on motors and they got a fair for it so yeah....
if your gonna sell it why not just sell it as is, it won't be worth it doing a rebuild and then selling it unless the rest of the car is flawless and you find some1 who really wants your car and is willing to pay for it.. if the current engine is completely stuffed then yeah find some second hand thing and swap it in, as long as your doing the work yourself..
with 200k kms..i dnt tink i can get a good price for the dc2 either...bt hey dnt have plans to sell it in the near future..datz y planning to do rebuild...Quote:

i've been looking through my options for a b16a (done 150K ALMOST)... basically getting a new engine is not recommended unless u have a D16 (sorry to d16 owners) cos
1. u wont know the condition of the engine ur getting from the wreckers... even the KMs could have been tinkered with
2. engine swaps = huge labor expenses
3. the engine could have had a hard life
B18CR = as ppl have said around $4000 bucks + 1500 ish labor for a halfcut
now looking at rebuilding an engine... u can budget
1. $500 for pistons, rings,
2. $500 for rods, rod pins
3. $500 for all bearings, washers, etc
4. $300 for all the necessary gaksets approx
for $1800 u basically have a brand new bottom engine minus the crankshaft. And from what i've heard, crankshafts dont stuff up or die with old age. Dont quote me on this one, but thats wot i heard. But in any case, blocks dont die unless u put a conrod through them
If ur super pedantic u can upgrade ur top end valvetrain as well with new valves, springs, retainers, those rubber grommet things where u put the spark plug... all this can be had for around $1000 bucks
so ROUGHLY for 2800 u have a brand new engine that will actually need running in vs $4500 bucks for a tired engine with little known history
do the rebuild
that's v.true also..hmm...hw long did it take to rebuild ?Quote:

I'd say depending on who you go through it could take anywhere from 3 weeks to 5 weeks, depending on how quickly they can get the parts together and how stuck into it they get..
ic..hw abt the ITR gearbox?cz i wan something with shorter ratio..and also tougher...vtir gearbox :(Quote:
