still for a straight 4 to sound like a boxer engine, it must be running real bad or missing.

having a good header should help u use less fuel, but you will prob boot it around more so prob no.
I have Xforce 4-1 headers on my ITR as well and it does sound like REX, but when it hits the VTEC it's even better than rex.
lol locote... its not as if i sat down and made my decision based on how i'd make the car sound...
i was just stating that the car now has the gurgling sound like a rex... but has Malenic said, when vtec kicks in it jsut roars... the rexxie sound only seems to be there in lower revs... once you reach about 3500rpm - 4000rpm... the gurgling sound goes and just sounds big... i love it :)
ps. apparently one of the runners is slightly uneven length which causes that sound...
I agree!Quote:

Well, I run 2.5" system atm with a Mugen copy 4-2-1 headers.
Not very good around the town. No power under 3KRPM and a cabin noise ehh, not very nice - sound system - absolete!
However, power from 4 - 9KRPM is unbelievable.
So, like with many other mods - it's give and take.
If you don't plan to track your car on regular basis, then DON'T DO IT! :!:
im confused, one person is saying 4-1 is not good for everyday driving. now you say you agree with him. yet you say yours is 4-2-1 with 2.5 inch cat back is also not very good around town. so still bit confused, just out of curiosity is your 2.5 inch system custom or aftermarket?Quote:

Had both on my DC2R.
Honda has spent the countless amount of time and money to make the DC2R driveable around the town. And they only "just" succeeded!
It comes down to the engine capacity. 1.8Lt e/g needs the certain amount of exh. back pressure to operate properly. 2.5" system would be fine with DC5R due to its 2.0Lt capacity.
So, if you alter the exhaust or intake, or both, on your DC2R, the whole equation will be compromised and the driveability will suffer.
However, if you "have to do it", then I believe, you should get the Toda 4-2-1 headers and stay with 2.25" system.
Although in order to get the full benefit from your Toda headers, you will (most likely) have to modify your air intake,to get more air through the engine.
My 2.5" system is custom, with the Magnaflow muffler, twin resonators and the hi-flow cat.
the std dc2r zaust is 2.25...so u basically sayin stay with the std exhaust..
2.5" on a dc2r wont lose enough back pressure to cause any problems or lose power. its when you start going 3" - 3.5" that it may have a slight effect, but from majority of people i've spoken to, and the research i've done on the net, overall thats more of a myth than anything else... why would majority of dc2r's (well those who i've spoken to) go for 2.5" if it was to reduce power...?
mate, i recommend going to a reputable exhaust place in your area, have a chat to them about it... or even give Adrian from Toda in ingleburn (sydney) a call and chat to him about it, save having everyone on here tell you something different...
I 3rd that motion!Quote:

I think some of you guys are misinformed. The reason why the rex does sound like a rex, is because of the uneven header length, period. Not because of its boxer engine, or whatnot. End of story.
Now if your cars are beginning to sound like an impreza what is that telling you? That your straight 4 is turning into a boxer engine? No. Obviously you have uneven header length.

That's what I heard, and that's why I will change it very soon:)
