JUST-10, once again thank-you for taking the initiative to develop this intake.

Have been driving around Melbourne today, I love this mod. The power difference is incredible and the smoothness of the rev range is why I wanted a Honda in the first place.

I may have underestimated the sweet noise coming from the front guard. It is a lot louder than the stock filter box, but that swish of noise from air being sucked into the CAI just makes you want to kick it harder. How long the engine will last, don't care it is the driving experience that counts and the luck of not getting caught buy the police hitting 90km in second gear. Love VTEC.

In some selfish way, JUST 10, I want no one else to have one.

I called Adrian today at TODA Australia to commend him on this design and let him know that it was not a waste of time doing the development, some people out there in the universe do appreciate good design.

I also be interested in the difference a good set of headers will do to a already well tuned exhaust.

After fitting the CAI I cannot see how good headers other than the OEM would make that much a difference if air was being restricted at the intake in the first place.

how much does it cost for parts and installation of this CAI?

Firstly what is the model of your K&N pod filter and the internal diameter that
connects to the CAI pipe ?

Regarding the induction roar with the CAI, I wonder if it makes much difference
to the decibel level if you install carpet/felt/suitable material to the internal
walls of the container space(like in an audio sound chamber?) where the pod filter is located. Also consider coating the external surface of the container space with sound deadening paint. Insulating the long induction pipe (eg. black insulating rubber used on hot water pipes, 3" dia) to dampen resonance with the positive benefit of reducing temperature soak from the engine compartment. Please try it out and let us know the effect.

I'm sure most car enthusiasts are aware of this.
It's the fine art of tuning the diameter and length of piping to increase the speed
of moving air over a broad (hopefully) engine speed range. It's the air that rushes
down the pipe that sets up the resonance which generates the induction noise level. I guess it's these parameter that Toda experimented with to achieve the 4kw gain at the wheel - simply amazing! Having a dyno is a fun tool which most of us cannot afford. We just rely on our seat-of-the-pants feelings and our auditory senses to tune and adjust that extra little bit of performance out of the engine.

Interesting to note the different solutions engineers use to manage noise resonance. I've seen the road version of the hot 1.6 DOHC Lotus Ford Escorts(1971) with an exhaust muffler connected to the air intake. I've read of Rolls Royce having 6 mufflers with different diameters to tune out exhaust resonance. How about generating some amplified 'white noise' to neutralise the CAI induction roar at high rpm? This could take quite a bit of effort invested by a skilled person to incorporate a device to the CAI. I wonder if grafting a component from the OEM Jazz intake device (or some other suitable part) would help. Can I hear the cash register playing the Abba tune 'Money, Money, Money' ?

Thanks for the ideas. I will definitely try wrapping the CAI pipe with insulating rubber, this will hopefully reduce some sound.

I had intended of removing all the carpets and underlay and spraying body deadner on the inside and around the firewall and underbody of the car to reduce some engine and road noise.

I like the sound the intake makes at high revs.

satanoperca, which other air filter set up for jazz u ever seen urself? its better to have comparison... i remember another bloke installed a custom made piping and bmc filter. He mentioned he dynoed his car as well, with a gain of 4 kw too. I m not trying to say that urs is not good, but i believe other set up may b able to achieve the same result as well. I m using simota kit and some of us are using it. All are happy with it as well. Maybe one day we could meet up and change opinions first hand.

oh i think its Muli... 5 kw he mentioned if i m not mistaken.

Is the simota kit Jazz specific or a universal intake system?

If it has been designed for the Jazz 1.5lt engine then I would expect to see similar performance increases. If it is a universal system, able to go on other cars then I find it highly unlikely or extremely lucky if it is able to achieve the same performance increase as the one I have put on.

I am more than willing to catch up and compare notes as to speak.

try putting on the Apexi power intake filter into the CAI pipe, c does it get better power gain from the original CAI filer ... :)

The original CAI filter is a K&N which from all tests (independant) I have seen provides better flow than pretty much anything else on the market.

One thing which I'm not sure if you were told Satanoperca, is that you should reset the computer. Remove positive terminal from the battery for 10mins. This will then let the car "learn" the new setup much quicker.

From memory it took about 4-5 runs on the dyno for the computer to "learn" the settings just to give you a bit of an indication....
