nah screw the dyno... i want performance outta my driveway : P i dunno... somoene offerred to sell me a ARC airbox, with panel filter i think... its CAI...
kinda wanted to get it...
ARC is pretty much a SRI but with a panel filter instead of pod.... still sucks in hot air
lol sikcvc didnt really understand your post
"so it needs a section where the air can pool so its not drawing all the way from say behind your front bar. "
??
sorry guys im a newbie
wats a CAI and SRI???
like wats the diff
CAI = Cold Air Induction
SRI = Short Ram Intake
Why do I hear people saying that they gonna shove a pod in thier engine bay and buy a heat shield for it and all will be well. A heat shield is the most pointless piece of crap ever invented. A heat shield does practically nothing. After installing one, is it gonna magically turn the air in the engine bay ice cold?....... ummmmmm no. Having A Pod in ur engine bay, its gonna suck hot air in regardless of what u do.
For Best Results either replace ur stadard panel filter with a high flow one then run some piping to the front of your car. Or rip out ur existing air box and resonator and run some piping from ur stock intake tube down through the resonator hole and locate ur pod down there.
For My car i ran Bunnings :P 65mm PVC pipe from the stock intake pipe down the resonator hole and put the pod down there. I get better midrange now and a better induction noise. And for the grand total of 17$ its still going strong. And no it hasn't melted even after long driving on a hot day.
If ur worried about water getting in ur engine just weigh up the pros and cons. Ur pretty much Ok unless u drive into the ocean and live under the water in harmony with various sea creatures. Then U might fkkk ur car up.

Bottomline is CAI will yield the best gains and efficiency, but at a slight loss in low end... :)
I refer you to this example of a CAI kit :)

Nice :D
What that set you back, can you give me the site where you bought it?
Is there CAI kits out there that have a feature to prevent water from being sucked in, like EuroAccord13 kit has that bra or whatever?? :S
I though that filters had a oil coating on them for that reason... i thought oil on the filter deflects the water... Sorta like waxing a car....
Or I could be entirly wrong...... again.
A light oil layer is upon every foam filter - to "grab" the majority of smaller particles, further filtering the air going in. . . . once you clean a foam element - you should also re-oil it lightly too!Quote:
