might give this a go actually, my revs havent been consistent lately, sometimes when im at the lights its sitting on 1.5k then i tap it a lil bit then it'll go back down to 800rpm or so
Nice write up...will be trying it this weekend. Thanks!
I read this article http://www.pca.state.mn.us/waste/pubs/4_10.pdf and couple of sites about carb cleaner. They say some can evaporate. Maybe those are the oxygen-sensor friendly carb cleaner... and won't coat any sensors.
Oxygen sensor friendly carb cleaners are the ones that combust and don't leave a combustion product that can coat the O2 sensor. Since you are spraying it into the intake arm, the stuff that coats the intake arm won't combust (well, hopefully :))
The ones that totally evaporate are more expensive. :) If in doubt, just spray a bit on a tile outside and see if it evaporates. Remember to clean up after so kids/dogs/cats don't lick the stuff.
the best product to use is subaru upper cylinder cleaner it comes in a little spray can and can be bought from subaru dealers
quality stuff for cleaning tb's
I see the logic in cleaning the TB whilst the engine is running, as it allows you to rev the engine and get the aerosols to clean the insides abit better. But im a little reluctant to do it this way coz a mate told me that this will cause the Check Engine Light to come on when you run without the intake duct and tubes. Is this a concern or its safe to clean with engine running?
nah when you put the intake arm back on it will all be fine.
If your really worried that it might put the ECU into limp mode do an ECU reset after the cleaning
I use carb cleaner and usually i clean with the engine off and later with on, and I empty the whole can. Btw how offen i should clean the TB.
Cleaned the TB yesterday. All went well, saw lotsa crap coming out the exhaust LoL. Car runs much smoother now, response is abit better. ;)
i did this today once i cleaned it damn my idle was way high... so i had to readjust it to become normal once again ... nice and easy steps highly recommended to do didnt notice too much gunk that comes out
