Accord Euro 06 Sat Nav question

Toyota is no different. The maps on those GPS's were about 3 years out too. One of the sales reps at Toyota told me that the map people usually release first to print publications and only after that they give it out to Sat Nav etc at a much later date. I tried calling Toyota about it and their response was sorry cant do anything about it and to contact the map people. I also called the map people and they didnt have any answers only to give me the run around and for me to take it up with Toyota. So overall I got fed up after the run around.

I am sure its the same thing here too.

once again that will achieve nothing...as its not hondas prob...it will be fixed but in due time with the nav company. We were told this at nav training!

Its not easy keeping up to date with every single rd change, or new st in the whole country so u have to rely on customers to inform u on changes!
Can u imagine how many round abouts and steets that get changed everyday also new estates that pop up.......

so u have to expect lots of places to be missing!

IMO this isn't good enough. So a $30 street directory issued in 2005 is more up to date than the Euro sat nav? What a joke.

Jimmy - I also disagree with you that it is "not honda's problem". They sell the car - it is their problem.

its not just honda its every manufacturer who is in the same boat....Honda isnt supplying the maps so why is it hondas fault?


If the system has a fault its hondas problem, but if u get a roundabout put into your street that isnt updated on the sat nav DVD how the hell is that hondas fault?

I'm not a SAT NAV supporter as I know myself not requiring to use such technology myself unless probably in a very remote area like deserts.

BUT, I can't see WHY it's up to customers to inform SAT NAV map suppliers what's new in the area. It should be up to the map suppliers to provide the most up-to-date maps on SAT NAV.

If UBD, SYDWAY, or Gregory's can do it, why can't they. All they have to do is get the latest info from RTA or those street directories suppliers just mentioned above.

UBD and others had always able to illustrate on the maps of future streets and highways so there is no reason why customers/users of SAT NAV need to provide those info.

And NO!!!, users should not expect many places to be missing. Maybe some, and it should only very few, but I totally disagree that the word "many" is used.

And furthermore, yet HONDA does not make the maps, they bundle the maps with the cars sold so HONDA should also be responsible for the lack service to provide up-to-date info.

If u want an updated map u have to buy one every year not cheap either around $500 i have been told.....its just like a melways ive still got my one from 2000......but it only costs $30 to get one.....and i dont need to get a new one either...


If ur missing the street in the sat nav u can just put ur longitude and lattitude in...

and how can Honda be at fault if u buy the sat nav....and its up to date but next week a new street u want to live in has just been made or a roundabout at the end of ur street has just been put in....is honda and the nav map provider expected to send everyone in the country an updated copy of the maps with the changes????

I dont expect an new edition of melways when streets and road changes are added.

don't quote on me, but the maps shouldn't be over a year out-of-date. It was never mentioned that SAT NAV maps be provided everytime one street gets updated. But from a buyer point of view, the maps should be at least near up-to-date when the car is delivered and not with a map that is 3yrs old.

for example, when someone buys a PC and gets anti-virus bundled with it, at least the latest anti-virus database is obtainable for a given period.

i see wat ur saying, but the maps out now are very up to date...

If customers have problems with the maps they can ring sensis and they will amend the prob and will be fixed by the new disk......

but i cant justify $500ish for a new map to get my street updated lol

I agree on not justifying for the cost of new maps, but what's more that I can't justify is the $3000 for the SAT NAV option. If I was to ever get SAT NAV which I highly doubt I will ever use at all, I would get a portable SAT NAV device.

i wouldnt get sat nav i dont need it as i usually know where im driving, but sell lots of sat navs to sales reps and people who are on the road a bit...even husbands come in and get euros with sat navs for the wife coz she had no idea how to read a map!

There is a good market for sat nav thats why they put it in the Lux euro.

If it was so simple I would agree with you. Honda obviously do not supply or source every part on the Euro. I am sure hundreds if not thousands of parts in the Euro are not made by Honda. Does this mean when there is a problem with such parts Honda says we should all go to X or Y as it is not "their fault".

I agree we can't expect brand new streets to be in a sat nav vehicle. The issue here is raaj says he moved into the area in 2001. Now if you think that is acceptable you must be joking. I would expect more from someone who works at a Honda dealership instead of passing the buck. The age of the maps is not good enough and I think my comments are justified.
