How big of a turbo are we talking here? I don't know much about turbo setups etc. But my older step-brother does, and he said he is gonna help me out when I get the cash for it. The main problem that I think I will have is finding/making a manifold for it.Quote:

Matt.
costs like $900 or so to have one made up that will do the job, personally i dont think its worth having one brought in from the US. Aussies can weld just as well as the yanks :)

so whats cheaper in the long run ???
what's cheaper is to go to someone who actually knows what they are doing (and by that, have a look at the examples of their work, and the type of cars going in and out of their workshop). If they are just an exhaust shop, and dont do custom work, then yeh you'll prolly get something that wont be very good.
However, go to a place that specialises in performance work, and has built numerous high power cars, and suddenly you have as much expertise as these guys in the US. The guy who builds the Lovefab manifolds is not a pro welder, he's learned his craft in the time i have been a member on Honda-Tech. He is now very good, and builds quality manifolds, but he isnt as experienced as a good workshop in this country would be.
Hence pornstar's backyard job manifold comment, Tinker makes these at home and borrowed the design off others, as most manifold manufacturers do.
On the other hand, look at the Drag manifolds, they flow like shit in comparison and people have run 10 second 1/4 mile times using them, so how important is it to have the latest "in" manifold?
As an example a guy working at the performance place up here owns the shop and has been in the business a long time. HE is exporting his exhaust systems to the US and makign ak illimg from it. Why? Cos his craftsmanship is unbelievably good and the yanks havent seen anything like this before? A breakthrough? Maybe, but somebody with common sense and some devotion to their work is all I gather from all this. Pointing the finger and generally assuming that Aussies wont put as much "R&D" time into their work is pure bullshit. Apples for apples mate, when put to it the Aussies can do as good, if not better job than anybody out there. Keep the local industry running I say! :)
I had a talk to my older brother, he knows a friend that will be able to make one up for me so that's okai.
But I have heard people talking about loosing their aircon to get soemthing like this installed? Is this easily avoidable?
if you go with something simpler than the one shown then yeh, its easy to build a good manifold that allows the air con to stay :)
Awesome, I had an idea that's how it worked ;)
Can't wait to get some more money :P
i was comparing apples to apples, you are talking about one individual/company. If this aussie company/individual is so good at their work, how come most people over here have not heard of him / or company ??? I am one to support local industry, but when talking to many people from not only australia but over the world on a daily basis i have never heard of anything australian mentioned especially when talking about headers/exhausts that have bettered or even matched what has been developed overseas, i have in regard to other car parts though.Quote:
