no Idea on cost, was not my car.
the ECU determins the when to ignite the inflator and we have not changed that.
their is a bit of a difference between CTR and S2000 Wheel,
s2000 wheel uses the entire airbag as the horn, you just press it.
the CTR has Horn Buttons either side,

but what i mean is once its fully inflated. they will have different shapes, eg if the s2k launches a big/long rectangular type airbag due to the shape of the cabin. maybe the lude launches a more square shorter airbag.
airbags inflate at a HUGE velocity, this could result in it knocking ur head off (a bit extreame but u know what i mean)
basically what im trying to say is maybe the volume of the s2k airbag is much larger than the prelude airbag(or vice versa).
airbags are designed specific for each car, lets say the ludes airbag volume is much smaller, since they are now exploding in the same allowed volume(the ludes cabin) the s2k wheel will fill a larger proportion of the volume, this couldnt be safe?
might be worth noting this in ur disclaimer
-
you raise a very valid point,
the initial thread has a disclaimer on it for the entire thread :), But Ill add some thing in there.
-
I have added another disclaimer on the 1st page
WARNING: Due to the low budget of this DIY, I have not been able to do any crash testing. PUT A DIFFERENT MODEL SRS WHEEL ON YOUR CAR AT YOUR OWN RISK.

good man, yeah i just thought if someone (god forbid) had a really serious accident u coulda been liable for stuff.
neways its a fantastic write up, much better than any others ive read about fitting an s2k wheel on a lude. good work man!
-
alrighty, im bumping and old thread in hope for an answer.
got a Prelude SiR wheel and decided to fit it today, everything went fine but i got one issue, i couldnt get the wheel right to the end? should it just slide on or should it be as tight as a frigid 18yo? coz i mean this is something cronic, got big metal objects lined em up with the metal on the inside and hit it with a hammer(scared to absolutly belt the shit through it). ive tried finness and ive tried brute force, neither worked lol.
is there a trick im missing or do i have to modify something? just to give u an idea as to how far its gone the indicators do not click back so i have yet reached that plastic thing on the inside.
my lude is non atts.
-
can you take a picture of it dude
-
great write up ecu-man.
i had a good laugh at the FORD logo being imprinted on your head.
-
backwards as well
that shit hurt.
-
i think i figured it out on the drive to work tonight....looks to not be on straight. just parked it perfect then, will take it off and put it back on, hopefully straight.
-
so i got it straight, another issue lol. the srs light has come on, its not the fuse and im resetting the ecu as i speak. however i now have lost the indicator snap back thing. if resetting the ecu wont clear the srs issue i might snap lol
the reason the srs light has come on is coz i started the car up with the airbag off and the screw barely on so i could go for a real slow drive down the street to make sure the wheel is cenered, i realise this was prob a bad idea but i hope resetting the ecu will do the trick.
