If u get sports shocks, they SHOULD be designed to work with lowered springs. Just ensure u have ur bumpstops cut corrently so that ur new shock wont be travelling full distance (thats another different issue all together - see my thread on bumpstops).

for that i will purchase some lowerd bumpstops from egsi when i get onto him about shocks.
so its settled the pedders spring + some koni shocks should be half decent setup?

Mate, I reckon get some kings and koni yellows. I have king super lows (loweres 40-50mm) and Koni reds.
I'd advise you to go with Koni yellows (I wish I had yellows, my reds only have 3 adjustable settings, and it's internal too, so to adjust it I have to pull the shock out, whereas with the yellows, there is a knob on the top which you turn to adjust), and go a set of king lows (25-30mm). I've had a few headaches with the super lows - I scrape like mad often. It looks great, but is a pain in the ass. Go the lows IMO.
You'll be more than happy.

Im sitting on king springs super lows and to be honest.. its not that bad... people say its soft and bumpy, but i dont really feel it... its pretty stiff imo... i took the car for some twisties with trav, dave and chris.. and it did its job and i managed to keep up... btw, im just using Kings Super low with OEM shocks with some urethane bump stops from trav, theres no problems at all... so if your after a budget setup and something that drops your car and make it look nice, then just get king springs... im happy with mine, it does its job and its affordable
if ur in sydney u can hop in my car and try it i've got the pedders low ryder springs 2" drop on my car, and i found it to be quiet bumpy. However the ppl at whiteline mention it's quiet soft which contradict with what it is..hmmm
or u can look for EK4 or EK9 stocks.......they are cheap but excellent quality......aftermarket spring is happy with those and the money u save can invest in coilover in the future.Quote:

I got King 'Low' Springs for $290 retail price from Burson Auto Parts in NSW (I believe they have a store in Caloundra)
Honestly, Pedders = PÖÖH for quality and the difference is noticeable.
King Springs + KYB AGB shocks would be my recommendation
PEDDERS:
I too like many of the other guys who have posted here do have mixed feelings about pedders suspension gear. Yes they are Australian made, but by my personal experience i do not feel that they represent the great quality they we need on our cars.
OTHER OPTIONS:
KYB, Koni all supply good quality shocks at competitive prices, and just offer the edge on pedders. Yes, the might be a little bit more expensive but id pay that extra!
COILOVERS?
Coilovers, for that price or around 1500, I think you could get a good quality new, or even second hand set of tein, cusco etc. Yes it is a little bit more expensive, but the flexibility of a coilover is awesome.
Pay a little bit extra, go to a workshop and get them to set them up for "YOUR" needs. Maybe down the line you may be interested in some track work, or keen on giving your car a dumped look for a show and shine.
Personally, if i were spending $1k on new shocks, id be looking for a comparative set of coilovers.
