No, no plans, just curious as to how far she'd go with the original motor, car's been in the family since new, the interesting thing is, my other car is Nissan Patrol MQ, L28, same motor as the famous Dutson 280Z! If what I am reading here is right, the little Honda 1.5Lt engine should outlive the 2.8Lt straight six of the Patrol! This is hard to imagine, but could well be true, how could a small higher revving 4cyl outlive an easy going 6cyl which rarely revs beyond 2500rpm?

Ps: Nissan’s done 260 000 and is starting to use a bit of oil now!

asking how long ur motor has to live is like asking how long is a piece of string... theres no definite answer

as long as you take care of it and service it on time i say your motor can do a whole lot more then that

mines at 110k kms and i've had one and only one problem- starter motor died. so replaced it . 50bux and it was up and runnning again

i change my oil every 10k kms.

As sure as death and taxes, average life expectancy exists and is the best way to measure the inbuilt quality of any object, be it an engine, a tyre, a gearbox, or a living being, this is why there’s such thing as statistics. Average represents the margin between two extremes with the larger percentage having the greater impact on the final figure.

According to you, with good care a man would live to see a thousand, sadly on average we die at about 78 years.

Bar the Indian speeches, Do you have a Civic? If yes, how many km’s did you do before major overhaul?

i think u missed my point. im saying if u take care of your car properly and treat it with respect u can be certain it will run for a long time.

of course u are gona have probs when u car reaches high mileages, its just about how serve the problems are. (depending on if u serviced it on time and how u treated ur car)

and for your information, i drive a 2006 honda civic vti manual.

'90 EF9 SiR: 300,007 kms on the original motor. It wasn't driven to gently either. Only reason I'll be pulling it down is because I'm an idiot and crunched the car.

Thanx for sharing that info, 300 000 is good, more so that it didn't need the rebuilt, as for crushing it, well,it happens to the best of us.
