yes just get a rwc and hand in the forms.
i live in VIC but the car was Rego in NSW...
i bought the car and was cbf 2 register it in my name..
so i have 2 register it in my name... and getta RWC... and hand in the forms...
coz i dont really want 2 take the car 2 VICROADS. not that anything is wrong with the car... wasnt sure if it had 2 go 2 the Pits there for inspection...
oh wait, you bought a car in NSW and u live in Vic...
i had to do this with my newest car.
1 - Get the NSW transfer slip - Its a crummy little blue piece of paper.
2 - Get the previous owner to sign it away to you
3 - Pay for the car
4 - Bring car back to Melb.
5 - CALL VICROADS AND ORGANIZE AND INTERSTATE VEHICLE TRANSFER APPOINTMENT.
6 - Get a rwc.
7 - Bring in the RWC on the day of your appointment.
8 - They will inspect the car (Only to see if VIN and CHASSIS ID match up *for REVS and incumberances purposes)
9 - Pay for transfer fee, pay for 12 months rego + new plates fee *Cost me $999 for a 15k car and slimline plates.
10 - Vicroads will take the NSW plates off you, but issue you with a reciept which you can use to claim back unused rego from NSW.
