You can get refurbished dizzies, around $500 or more I think, or you could find a cheaper 2nd hand one at the wreckers, but it too may be faulty or on its way out.
But since the dizzy has separate components, you could take the dizzy to a mech and get them to diagnose the exact fault (or do it yourself using a multimeter), and quote you on the new part, be it the cap, ignitor, or coil. You may save hundreds of $$$ if you just replace the faulty part, rather than the whole thing (a new genuine dizzy cap is only about $45 for instance).
They are pretty easy to install, u just need to get the timings right and bolt it on basically.
silly as it may sound the problem was the spark plug leads. changed to top gun leads, problems all fixed! thanks for the help guys.
most mechz are dodgy tho yeh??
