Overheating

hahah i was thinkin the exact same thing when i read it...

Bleed ur system, sounds like u have a big air bubble :)

ahh noticed u were in melb... mayb u should come down so i can have a look @ it :P

yea it just occured to me this morning that it mite be an air bubble as well..

meaning i should let the motor run for a but without the radiator cap on? ("burping the car")

chances are it has a bleeder nipple.. from memory i think its on the top radiator hose where it connects to a metal pipe.. there should b a bronze lookin nipple... its a 10mm.. u gotta open it up while ur puttin water/coolant into the rad so air comes out.. when uve got fluid comin out.. close it.. run the car and as the temp rises, open it up so allow trapped air come out.. do this till the car has reached operating temperatures.. usually takes around 5 mins... or wait till the fans come on.. check it one more time and u should be rite... thats considering my memory serves me right on the nipples location ;)

u can have a fecked head gasket with no 'milkyness' in the engine oil at all.

mechanic can do a test which takes 5mins to see if your head gasket is at fault

Yeh thats right, like I said blown gasket cylinder to water channel, pushing air in your water system.

But you said that the coolant 'is' returning back from your overflow bottle when cooling down. Where if you had air in your system the coolant would not retrun back because of the compressed air in the system.

Stop messing around take it to a mechanic, hes got all the right tools. :thumbsup:

D-series?

Headgasket for sure. Easy test, Drain overflow tank to very low. Hit fullbost a couple of times, pull over. Take overflow tank cap off and smell, observe mixture. My guess is u will see black particles and the smell is very exhausty.

oh yeh, and because of the open deck, u can easily blow a headgasket under boost and not get any other symptoms. Over time it will start to overheat during normal driving as the problem gets worse. Very rarely will u see a honda mix oil/coolant.

rare my ass, ive seen it millions of times..

Thermostat i say... maybe stuck... get a new one and try... or take out and put in boiling water to see if opens up...

I'd try the radiator cap first, could be just the spring has worn and is letting out the water too early
