Check alt, batt, & dist.... if there are no appearant oil leaks or oil burn scent. Or just take it back to honda and tell them you're not happy with it. The service manager should be eager to see you leave with a smile.
Cheers,

Cheers,
VTEC kicks in when 3 things are met, rpm, vehicle speed, and oil pressure. Check and clean the VTEC solenoid, check all electrical connections, check oil level, check oil pressure at idle and at 2500-4000 rpm, and check the sump like ECU-Man said.
i thought vtec engages in type R's around 5800 rpm anyway?
are you on full throttle ? i have a JDM engine and it kicks above the 5.5 mark (give n take for the tacho reading) soo i duno how yours kick at 4.8 with just a vtec controller. maybe u were mislead or it just sounded like its vtec but really its just exhuast being louder?? what make you say ur vtec kicked in at 4.8?
IAB.
it kicks in before vtec engages.
This is likely what you are experiencing. If you've changed your intake system, this will make it more pronounced.
