$1500 Easy choice then,Koni's + Quality spring
Better check first with others that have the same car and similar setup, you might find going to Koni Yellow lows your car even more...
Koni's for sure.
Reasons
1. For the money your spending, you can get cheap coilovers or quality koni shocks and good springs.
2. they will perform up to your expectations very well - comfy with a great performance edge!
3. Your concerned about longevity which is very important. Koni's with a quality spring will last 10 years or more! the shocks come with a LIFETIME waranty and will DEFINATLY last a hell of a lot longer than any $1500 coilover ever will!
4. If a shock screws up for some reason, you can replace single the blowen unit, instead of forking out for a hole brand new set of coilovers.
5. You can get them revalved, serviced and rebuilt in tons of places all over australia.
6. Ive never seen any rebuildable coilovers for $1500. the are basically disposable units ie, if it fails outside the warranty period, its time to chuck em.
Reguarding pedders sport rider shocks, there are tons of better shocks out there. Im not sure of there price, but i doubt youd save any money getting them compared to the popular sport shocks (kyb AGX, tokkico illuminas, koni sports, bilston ........).
I believe that the konis have the stock height spring perches, but also have 2 other height settings so you can play around a little.
Traders on honda-tech sell the konis for $450US for the set which is cheap!
i got a quote once and it came out to $800AU or so shipped wich is ALOT cheaper than you can them here for, but i believe this effects the warranty going this way. The saving is probably enough to purchase a single unit or get a damaged unit rebuilt anyways if worse comes to worse.
Mind you the shocks are tested before they are sold so they wont be dodgy when you get em, and if you are slammed, this voids the warranty anyways once there installed.
For springs, you can get the very popular (in the US) ground control springs and coilover sleves (groundcontrolstore.com) these basically give you the height adjustability of coilovers, and very good quality springs which are made by eibach:thumbsup: . You can also select the springrates you would like to get, and easily perchase pairs of springs later on if you decide youd like to start playing around with the spring rates.
Hope this helps a little
Allowing $500 for springs means you can look at higher end spring's like Eibach perhaps.Pretty sure they have them for your car.
Pedder's would be considered the lower end by most I would think.
As said the Koni's have minor height adjustment if you need it.
pedders springs sag, somthing that a quality spring will never do. When they sag, they do so unevenly which can be detrimental to performance as the weights on the tyres change unevenly.
But brand new id say you there probably wouldnt be a massive differance between pedders and say eibach, who make some of the best springs. Over time that would chance hugely though.
If you got the ground control sleaves with eibach springs, youd be looking at around $450-$500, which would cost you about $1250-$1400 all up if you also got your konis from the US.
The problem with ordering shocks/springs from the states is that shipping is ludicrously expensive, and customs will sting you on the way back. For small items it's a godsend but suspension you're probably better off finding something locally.
Even with the huge shipping costs (which are included in my price estimates), it still works out quite alot cheaper then getting them here (very unfortunate!). I still have no idea about customs though, and what/if they charge will do to the prices, if still trying to find out.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction itd be much appeciated!
How much are you estimating for shipping? It's quite a lot more than you'd think.
When you get hit by customs you'll be up for at least GST for starters, so that's $125 - $140 right up. The one webpage has all the info you need on it, a quick google should bring it up.
Contact Customs to see I guess, only way to do it LOL
im using koni shock and king springs. Very nice combo. Just choose the right spring rates and height then your all set.
Yes a koni's can rebuildable.
