anyone know the part number for 89 ef crx?
If i call ashdown, and tell them my car, would they know?
If only the Alternator were easy to get to on a EG GL :( ****ing most annoying place you can put it in! Hate HONDAS! FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
its not that hard,
if you fiond the right spot you can slide the altenator out.
my alternator is reading about the same as the OPers did before he replaced the regulater and (other thing).
would it be worth giving this a try before getting another one from a wrecker?? that may also be broken...
urgent guys,
please help
As long as the voltage output is the correct amount, or something like that. Search google if you want more info.Quote:

well i tried takin the alt off but i cant. its in a shit position (h22a in ej = bad) and waaaay to tight. and am worried about tensioning the belt too tight or loose.
how much for regulator and brushes from honda?? i was quoted $150+ by my mech
I got brushes for ~$25 inc. delivery, same day delivery (Victoria). Honestly cannot remember how much a regulator would cost. Does the $150 include, removing/refitting/labor?
no :-( im lookin at a few hundred drive out
Just did ours this morning, and I reckon the bigger challenge is getting out. In the end after lots of swearing I found the right spot by ....
1./ Removed wiring from alternator and all mounting bolts as per diy article
2./ Removed the cast iron bracket that holds the base of the alternator in place to gain extra clearance.
3./ Dismantled the front half of the plastic gaurd under the wheel arch.
4./ Positioned the alternator so that it squeezed through the hub side of the front passenger wheel.
Cheers
Ron
is it necessary to replace the regulator or just the brushes will suffice?
It depends how much you want to spend. I just replaced the brushes with an original complete set from Honda (no soldering, dismantling etc) for approx $40 and have had no charge issues since. If it was to be done by a Honda mechanic as I was going to in the first place he wanted to replace the reg as well. Cheers Ron
