I was quite surprised to open this thread and find the best splits to be MTX!!! LOL
mtx is ok, i wouldnt say MTX is the best coz they jus came out late 2000, theres still better brand and quality above MTX, like CLARION & PIONNER & that has crisp & clear sound and good for the budget, but if u want the top of the range, go for MB QUARTZ or ALPINE, not jus crisp & clear sound but REAL REAL good sound quality, where u can here every single instruments and effects played on cd or dvd
:(
.
Clarion & Pioneer??? LOLLLLLLLLLLLLL
you guys are like a bunch of women at an afternoon tea event. leave the guy alone, if he thinks they are nice then they are nice to his ears, nothing more and nothing less... i doubt all you audition speakers with real music anyway, most will come in with jigaboo music and pick a set of speakers by they way they sound with that music and not by how natural they sound. and in other cases people pick speakers due to their marketers in the industry, if someone tells you these are good you're going to believe them arent you? use your own ears and get what suits your budget and taste not what someone tells you is good...
ummmm my old utopia's are proberly a better set. and my polykevlar k2p's. try competing against those in a sq contest :P
Quality for most on this forum comes at a price but rest assured there are a lot less main stream brands that produce sound way better for a little more.
There is also a difference between speakers not just technology but the way they sound eg:
eg. Pioneer, Sony, Alpine, Clarion, Eclipse etc.
- Jap brands tend to sound very strong/good in high notes cause Asian music uses a lot of percussion instruments so their engineers tend favour this type of sound
eg. Rockford, Boston, Kicker, JL, Treo.
- American brands tends to sound more fuller and harder in the bottom end cause a lot of engineers traditionally favour music with a bit more attitude and bottom end like rock
eg. Dynaudio, Focal, Morel, Hertz, Rainbow.
- European brands tend sound more balanced and delicate due classical music favoured by most engineers for speakers developement
At the end end of the day we all have different tastes and budgets.
I personally use a lot of Chesky discs to tune my system for quality and staging not doof doof. However these are worth a listen if your serious about sound quality and hearing whats missing or lacking from your set up and moving up.
But it all depends what your after in the end as there still is a place for doof doof.
i run an alpine w202e, but only because i couldnt afford the eclipse double din dvd. alpine except for offcourse there f1 statis is cheap made chinese built crap. You should c how much they cost to make. i mean yeh they sound good. you buy a set of DLC-177r splits lets say, retail store about $399. i can asure you it costs considerable less than that prob considerably under $100. Where as focal k2p's retailing at 849 (not made in china), the price the stores get it at is only around 650-700 depending on how many they buy
