hmmm..would the 5 make this much difference?
just that i dont wanna fork out for profile 45 tyres and have it be some other problem...
well check out some other pics running similar size/width and offsets and you'd see it does make quite a difference.
example: t-one's dc2:

i believe they are running 205/45/16's if i aint mistaken. a good jump from the 50's your currently running.
you could even go 40's if your abit more worried
205/45/16 is sufficient i rkn
that doesnt look like a 45 offset.
im running a 38 offset but 205/45/16 tyres with 7" wide
thats a 7mm different from the hub.
yes i know the tyres contribute as well but i would double check the offset
Apologies..was +42 offset....
I just dbl checked!
im running 35 off set and it doesnt stick out that much 16x7
i just got my new tyres n rims, 15x7 +40 on my ek4 wid 205/50R15 and mine sticks out bout 1cm or so mayb less.
im running 25 offset and 7 inch wide
it sticks out just a touch
LOL the profile is too fat.
Get 205/45/R16.
Slam that bitch... it's 4WD spec.
its about 1cm diff in profile
the design of the tyre is also important.. theres no garuantee a 205/45 will fit in that certain tyre
i have run 16x7 205/45 40+ and they were normal..
depends on your tyre's design of sidewall
if you lower your car, the wheels will camber in and you might get the top of the rim to tuck underneath the fender
Thanks for the replies guys...
The thing that gets me is that the profile will affect diameter of the tyre/wheel? - not the width and how much it may or may not stick out?
If it helps the tyres are Bridgestone Adrenalins.
Thing is - I've had other 16x7 inch rims on my car with same profile - and same problem that it sticks out slightly. Tyres were Falken Azenis RT-215.
