what has checking test equipment got to do with resetting the ecu?

in this case the ECU is your test equipment,its testing the system to make sure everything is present & functioning within spec.If its not it tells you that the test has failed.
u should always make sure your test equipment is reading correctly first before being lead off on some wild goose chase for no reason.
this could all just have been a case of someone switching on the ignition with the sensor not plugged in & the code is stored,simply reset ecu,problem solved.................get it????
