the wider the tyre the larger the contact patch with the road surface... that will in turn increase traction, meaning harder braking, acceleration and cornering without breaking traction... so there is performance gain to be had... however, they are heavier, so theyll prob slow you down lol...

my main issue is people getting 8 or 9 inch rims, but putting on 225/235 tyres? wtf? use 7 or 7.5 inch and chuck on 225/235 lol

Hmm. Its too one dimensional to say increasing the size of the tire will improve handling.

Why not then therefore stop at 8 inchs and go to say 10 inch tyres. It depends on the weight, function and type of vehicle and its intended purpose.

For example in my rotax sprint kart theres an optimal tyre width for handling. Going wider will not help but hinder the kart.

For street use 7 inches in enough. Thats the point im making. i know a lot of you like the look of wider tyres. Im a function over looks kind of guy. cheers

Yeah i agree,225/4517s i think are the best ride/handling/weight tyre rim size for the Euro.

what size profile tyres are you running?
40 or 45 ? 45 gives a greater % to the mileage being out than 40.

But i agree 225/40/18 or 225/45/17 are the best for comfort and then adjust by tyre pressure then.

Would 19x9 +45 fit on a euro.. ? my car is lowered and the rear panel sits past my tyre..

are you lowered on adjustable coilovers or fixed spring + shock?

if your fixed than most likely your not able to fit and even so read below:

as i said before 9 would be too wide for the front, even 8.5 wheel get scrubbing but not as much.

you will need to roll your guards and however you still might get scrubbing on the suspension assembly when in full lock.

i'm on coilovers.. too much hassle if u ask me..

If i were to get 19" rims.. what would be the best dimensions.. ? cause most 19's are at least 8.5 wide.. and what would be the offset.. it seems quite difficult to find 19" wheels that would fit perfectly on a euro without having a negative camber <-- is this correct.. i'm a bit of a novice so correct me if i'm wrong..

There are 19x8.5 +38 5x114.3 - i'm assuming these will protrude too much as well as my car is lowered and this would be wrong offset.. ?

well you'll need to raise the car first before you fit the wheels. <--- not recommended to just try and chuck on wheels and hope they'll fit.

From what i've heard people have had to chop the front guards cause they are massive but i think the rear is fine without.
+38 a tad under the required offset, best to have a bit of negative camber on the rear to help with handling.

Try Pm-ing kitbkk and Temptn they will be able to give you more details on it as they have 19"/20"

i've got 225/35/18's wrapped around 18 x 7.5 wheels... someone told me that my speedo would be incorrect as with a 35 profile, i should have a different width..

not width, profile makes the diameter of the wheel larger/smaller. Only thing width affects is that it can scrub but mainly the front will.

The closest for 18 would be profile 40 which would give it an 0.844&#37;(from stock 16") slower speed which is equivalent to 1km.

Additionally, it would be slightly different if you had 17", go to www.1010tires.com and check out the wheel or tyre calculator and go figure it's very helpful.

still doesn't answer my question.... is 225/35/18 a legal size for the euro.. it's -2.7% from stock... when i went to ozzy tyres, they said something about it needs be within a certain percentage and not the 2" that everyone thinks....
