If you want a bang for the buck, get a 4 channel amp, 2 channel to power a set of comps for the front, and 2 channel bridge to power a sub. Forget about 6X9 as they sound shitty... you can re-use whatever speaker you have for your rears, and power those with your HU.
If your budget is not that much, you can grab those jaycar amp, speakers and sub. Get some proper car audio shop to make you a proper seal enclosure for you sub (according to its specs). 1 single 10" would do, but I personally prefer a 12".
The sub is not to play loud, but to provide the low frequency to complement the comp speakers.
why is 6x9 not necessary? actually i've been thinking of getting rid of the sub as it takes too much space and replace with 6x9 rears..
boston acoustic one fo the best speakers for sound quality
1 item alone from those brands could cost nearly the same as most ozhonda members cars lolz
we cant exactly ignore the budget, i can tell you've raised it but we still cant suggest or give advice on 'open to anything, not too pricey and get value for money'.
a rough figure would do (2g, 5g, 10g, 50g..)
Ok basically what i want is a good sound system. Nothing ridicuously expensive but one that gives value for money. I alredy got the HU so it's basically the speaker set up. So the budget id say is bout 2g to 3 g's as i would like good sound/clarity. If a certain brand costs a bit more i will build it in stages. I like my bass but don't want to get a sub as it take too much room in the boot. I want to replace the stock front and rear speakers and will obviously need an amp. With the rear speakers, i want them to replace where the stock speakers are now and want to avoid putting the speakers on the parcel shelf. I read in another thread that a cetain kenwood speaker fits into the original area. is this right? by the way thanks to all the ppl who have given me advice :)
so 3g max for a splits, amp/s & rears? you can get quality stuff with that amount.
splits: look into morel, dyns, bostons, mb, & a bunch of others
2 or 4 channel amp: ALOT on offer at this pricepoint. audison, boston, focal, alpine, tru tech.. too many brands to mention. see what's avaliable in a specialist near you
rears: personally i wouldnt worry or spend much on these. $200 max. doesnt really matter what brand. i guess you could just get a lower-line coaxil version of whatever splits you choose to have the same tonal characteristics thru-out the car. in the end, you can definitely do better than kenwood.
then id spend the rest on SD, wiring, etc.
thanks heaps for the info arverson. i do want an even sound thru out my car. I think i'll have to go to tonkins as they are the main ppl that know their sound. The brands u mentioned, i've never heard of as they must be above the kenwood, pioneer etc i'll look into these as a few other people have recommended them also.
by tonal characteristics i didnt mean an even sound thru-out the car, but whatever :)
i know what u meant. i'm shyt at explaining myself sometimes :p
