hey guys,
some nice looking sedans. there aren't any hatchbacks represented yet but...
planning to mod mine once my exams finish (and i get some money) so keen to get some ideas.
what i have planned so far in chronological order: 18" black rims chrome lip, low suspension set up (coilovers if my christmas bonus is good enough haha), catback exhaust, SRI and post facelift projector headlights (my HIDS are currently blinding everyone with my reflectors =[ )
ill definitely post some pics once its worthy enough... but still a long way to go haha
you should be able to turn your headlights down to aim them closer to the ground.. i think there's a little screw that will fit a phillps-head, face it towards a wall about 7-10m away and you can tune it from there.. i had the same problem for almost 3 years until i figured it out. hope it helps!
haha yeah i did that but theyre still a little glaring, but yeah it definitely helped, much less people highbeaming me now as compared to before haha
Hey guys, used to own an ES sedan but sold it at the end of last year. I know aftermarket parts are hard to come by, but I've still got a full stainless steel cat-back exhaust lying around at home. I bought it in america, its a 'Megan Racing' exhaust, madrel-bent and had a nice deep tone to it. Still got some vids and pics of it on my car. So if anyone was looking for one, Im located in sydney and pm me. Btw parts are easy to get from america (i had an hks hipower before, an rs grille, and k & n filter that i bought in america, but have already sold). Thanks.
hey dc5! any luck with the courier service to melbourne? i don't know where to start looking!
sorry Shu, havnt had the chance to look it up. been on holidays since last friday. just out of curiousity, what other parts u looking to put on ur car?
reckon we should have a 7th gen meet that would be nice
well, not too much really. im still tossing up between the catback exhaust, or just a muffler. honestly, i just want it to sound nice because i know unless i boost it, its not going to be very fast. haha.. any suggestions?
just get the axle back, doin up this car is very hard unless boosted for swapped. even a full NA build will only net u like 120kw atw for $15k where as if u go turbo u can get 140kw for $8k.
my turbo build is gonna cost me around $10K cos im aiming for 160kw
my motoware mate said the same thing.. the whole catback exhaust thing won't really make a diff. would it?
nope none
who's doing the boost kit for you, and how much you pick it up for? gotta get a vid happening once its done! and btw, roughly how much does it cost to change this car's auto to a manual transmission?
AKmotorworks in ringwood is doing my custom kit for 10k with the extras i want to add, Andy is the best i reckon. his stage 2 boost kit is around 7k which would suit best for this car.
Auto to Manual not 2 sure im guessing from around 1.5k to 2k maybe cheaper not sure mate. give Andy a call his a trader on the forums.
I personally dont think changing auto to manual is worth it tho man. Ur better off just trading in for manual version of ur car or just getting a different manual car. The reason I did cat-back & intake was purely for the sound it would make.
i like the deep purring noise a wrx makes, any suggestions? i've had a look at youtube and some of those civics are really beasty, and some sound like weed wackers.. can you post the vid you had of your old es1 raven?
if u wanted the deep note a wrx makes then u'll have to go with a cat-back. axlebacks wont make much difference in sound. but just to let u know, u'll never get the same exact sound. diff engine, turbo etc etc. heres the megan racing cat-back that was on my car:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YdKS74k_Y4
its really dark and bad vid quality. but thats pretty much how it sounded. its the exhaust i still have lying around.
sounds nice man! i saw the pics of your old car, the exhaust hangs quite low doesn't it? is that how you told the guy to install it? you couldn't tuck it under the bumper?
nah thats how it came when i got it. didnt really wanna change it up. actually me and a mate installed it. used a couple of jacks and got under the car. pretty easy. and cause the car was not lowered, didnt really scrape.
you still wants it?
oh and u dont want it too close to bumper. it might melt it.
ill try and get a vid up next week of mine, i got a custom cat-back.
nice! i just bought a can the other day.. hope it sounds alright, since performance was never my real issue.. any suggestions as to where is a good place to take it to get it welded on, and how it should be done? location, southeast melbourne.
Performance Exhaust Ringwood
To the Civic Vi (EU) owners,
Does anyone else find the lack of center console the biggest pain in the ass ?
Pisses me off so much i just got junk rolling around everywhere (so dangerous)
Designers of this car should be shot just for that reason!
hey guys,
just wanted to know if any of you who has the es1 sedan and have a short ram intake, whether anyone has put in a front strut bar? it seems the intake pipe sits quite high - probably almost touching the bonnet - and is there any problem with fitting one in? or its not possible? i was thinking of getting one, but looking in my engine bay the other day, i don't think it will fit because of the intake. thanks!
I just pumped my car with premium unleaded, hoping for some sort of difference..i got 405km from 35.01L from my previous tank, hopefully premium will make a difference. Do any of you guys pump premium? I'm doing it just out of curiosity, my car doesn't really deserve premium hehe.
yeh, i do v-power and ultimate all the time.. i know my car is no performance vehicle, but i find that it does run better and a little extra mileage with it.. let us know how you go!
I have a 05 civic vi
Pros:
- interior space. a good family car.
- good fuel economy, average 500km on 40L. apparently vi has better fuel economy than auto gli...(pls correct me if wrong.. =D)
Cons:
- not powerful, not fast
- bad handling...:(
hey guy,i m a owner of 01 EU,nice to meet you guys
EU parts is really hard to find, just like the bodykit,i've been looking for more than 1 year and i only got the front lips, can't find the others
auto fuel economy sucks, handling sucks, and no power :) bump for more pics!
Hey guys, haven't been on here in a while, how are your cars?
Today we got my Civic serviced, it was a Harrier service for 45k and they said something about not being able to replace the power steering fluid because its a special Honda type that my non-Honda dealer has no access to. I need to do a wheel alignment some other time, it hangs to the left too much.
Anyways my dad and I were talking about how mediocre this car is, I'm sorta over it. I guess I've just got over it (its stock) although I've only had it for a year. I'm curious to see how much I can sell the car for, it seems to vary a lot on Carsales.
Its a Honda Civic GLi MY03 sedan, 45k on the clock, serviced regularly, no serious issues with it at all. What would you price it at?
just got the car serviced for 100k....replaced timing belt and seals...
also chucked in a k&n panel filter....the difference the filter makes is amazing, car is alot more responsive and smoother through the gears...
did you get it done at honda? if so, how much did that set you back?
Let me start off by saying, yes everyone i have to say but it is a CHICK CAR. Plenty of friends have noticed that space in the center, many of them have claimed its handbag space >_<
But I personally dont have any problems with it, just shove ur take away or a box of tissues nxt to the handbrake like i do. I found it pretty handy yesterday getting out of the car after parking my Vi near the corner of a busy intersection, i just crawled over to the passenger side and got out without risking my drivers door getting swiped by some idiot. imo i think the lack of console is a plus.
guys, have an RS grille and also mudflaps for GLi sedan for sale
PM me if you are interested
hey guys,
i'm picking a pair or recaro tomcats i think they are called, some nice seats with like green and black checkers on it. i was wondering where i can pick up some rails for them? and how much it would cost me to get them installed? hope they look good! :D
ey tony u get my msg,
just get a set of universal rails and then get the brackets made. thats how i did it for my seats.
i have dc2/eg rails, where can i get them made from? my bro reckons all i need to do is change where the bolts go with a few new welds to fit my car?
u can get the brackets made pretty much anywhere that does welding, just ask them if they can make u some new brackets that match the car and weld them on to the rails.
awesome.. any suggestions as to where i should go that would charge me a reasonable price? i'd like to get it done asap.
i went and got mine dont at my old mechanics but they were a bit pricey. usually exhaust shops can do it just give them a call as ask if they can weld what ur asking for.
I used to have an '01 VI. white, with white 17" rims (no idea what), spoon muffler, SRI (k&n pod filter), coilovers, shithouse chinabrand tyres and TypeR stickers (stickers made the car 120% faster). gave it to my lil bro after procuring a DC5R.
pro's:
- lotsa space, especially at the back.
- good mileage (avg 500k)
- cheap & easy to maintain
cons:
- SLOW as a push bike.
- hard to find 3rd party parts.
- handles like a donkey.
my parents bought me this car, so i cant complain :D
yeah its slow but im not to fussy about it.
yo danny n chan and all other 7th gen owners.. another meet in williamstown on sat.
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=106609
i prob wont be able to make it, but are you going?
yeh, its just around the corner for me. i live in williamstown now! :D
i think my bro is gonna come down as well. damn, both of you can't make it this time round :(
edit again: just wanted to know, i heard something about dc5 suspension being able to fit in our cars? am i wrong here? im thinking of getting coilovers but not sure where to go get them, whether i should buy off ebay or go to pedders? any suggestions?
if u use the DC5 or EP3 COilover i think u need to change the forks, but dont quote me on that.
i know there are a few coilovers going around for out car, i know On the Run Motorsports in Clayton supply them for our cars, thats where i got mine from.
how much did you pick them up and installed for dandan? i was thinking of getting a set for my car.
i picked by coils up for $1800
Ok so I've decided to keep this car, at least for the moment. Now, I want to make it faster and handle better :P.
I know, I know it's noob of me but I want this car to be more exciting haha
k20 it! :P
get coils and rear sway bar makes the handling like 10 times better. i wouldnt bother with power upgrades cos itll be worthless, trust me ive done it all. if u want power either Turbo like me or like Tony says K20 it.
when u guys get some mods done you should come for a track day
where can i pick up the rear sway bars from and how much? :D
ill let u have mime when i swap out for a DC5 1 if u want it cheap 80 whiteline rear
no! leave it for me!! haha.. when you getting the dc5? if you're going to do that, don't bother turboin' the es. there's a k20 engine going on firesport for 7k if anyone is interested? haha. ill probably get my coils done, i dont think ill track it. no point, car will be slow as.. :(
lol u guys are going to have to translate for me :P. i'm on my Ps so i don't think i can get turbos etc.
visually, what i want to do is:
- fog lights (with HIDs hopefully)
- get rid of my rear spoiler (somewhat undecided still)
- muffler tip, don't wanna spend too much on a whole exhaust system
- rims (eventually)
- lower (eventually, a bit worried about the speed bumps in my area haha)
performance-wise, needless to say i want to improve the handling whilst increasing acceleration, at no cost to fuel consumption :P
i just did a google search on the term "k20" - so that's like a whole new motor!? i'm just a student so obviously cash is going to be an issue, i can't have it all haha
thanks guys
EDIT: I also hear a lot about these "K&N Air filters", are they expensive? My understanding of air filters is that if they get dirty, your fuel economy decreases - this was happening to my car before its 35k service.
get some noice 16s and lower it and your done!
dawack1
visually, what i want to do is:
- fog lights (with HIDs hopefully) - good choice
- get rid of my rear spoiler (somewhat undecided still) - never had 1 looks good with and with out its ur choice. if its the boot lip spoiler sell it 2 me :P
- muffler tip, don't wanna spend too much on a whole exhaust system - just get a muffler, ur not gonna gain much from these cars with a full cat-back
- rims (eventually) - 16"min in my book, either go 16" to 17" JDM or the VIP 18" to 20" look for best styles.
- lower (eventually, a bit worried about the speed bumps in my area haha) - i would go coils for just height adjustable which can easily be done at home.
this is what i would do, i dunno what the other guys would say its just 1 persons opinion
BTW pics
thanks for the replies guys
i had a look on the net and it looks like because im on green p's (post july 07, pre july 08) i can't put in any of those engine modifications because they add to the power of the car. however, what are the chances of a civic getting pulled over and inspected by the police? (famous last words?)
riced, about my rear spoiler it's just the standard ones that come with 03 gli's. by "boot lipped" do you mean the ones on like the civic hybrid, coz thats not what i have. my issue with getting rid of the rear spoiler is the fact that theres just going to be tape over the holes.
in regards to rims, i think with my car 16s or 17s max would be the go, but i'm going to leave rims til ive saved up a bit more. stock rims arent so bad as long as you keep em clean hehe.
replacing the coils naturally lowers the car right, but how does that effect the comfort of the ride? also, my car is quite loud for something with so little grunt, i realise its because of the high revs required but i've seen somewhere on this forum that you can get like engine insulation or something?
thanks for the tips guys. i really wish i could do some of the engine modifications, legally - a better air filter would be good i reckon! btw, how do you guys fund your car modifcations!? it's so hard to raise the money and then be prepared to part with it, especially when working just part time.
my coilovers feel like stock when set on the softest setting but i usually set them up in the mid 12 to 14 range as i like the stiffer ride, i have a 32 click setting point on my coilovers.
if its the case with the modding laws just go with the lowering and rims its makes for a good looking car to drive around, with the air filter i would just get a replacement 1 theres no need for a pod filter.
ive got some cheapo airfilter pod in my car, doesnt really do much to power just makes a deeper sound when you rev it lol sounds good tho
oh and changing to aftermarking springs will make your car lower and the ride will be stiffer.
just outta curiosity, how much power is ur ES making riced_civic?
and what do u have on it?
the mods on my ES did absolutely nothing (catback and panel filter) so i ditched it about a year and a half ago and got a faster car.
do u mean now or when i get my turbo??
Now i think i have 70-80 kw, lol it sounds so low :P
turbo im planing on making about 130-140,
then with a full build ill try for 280 or so.
i think you're probably going about it in the right way, to get power from our cars would require a bit of an investment into them. i believe turboing is the more economical option in comparison to an engine swap. but there's probably more you could do with a turbo'd engine if you had the funding for it.
visually, what i want to do is:
- fog lights (with HIDs hopefully) - easily picked up on ebay depending on what type of front bar you have. i picked mine up for about $160AUD about 6 months ago, and last time i checked they are still around the same price. HIDs will cost you about $100.
- get rid of my rear spoiler (somewhat undecided still) - do that, its ugly :P
- muffler tip, don't wanna spend too much on a whole exhaust system - just got a muffler tip put in a few months ago as well just for a bit of noise, but does nothing for performance. i opted for the dual muffler rather thant he cannon type muffler, as i think the cannons are alot louder and more grumbly. i also had an intake put in for that nice deeper noise that comes from the engine, it makes it even louder than what it is with the oem airbox! :P too bad no vtec in sedans :(
- rims (eventually) - depends on what look you're going for, like riced said you can go for the JDM look with some nice 16-17" rims or you go for the VIP look and get some nice 18-20" dished rims. i've fitted 18"s on my car and i think it looks small from certain angles, so try get bigger if you can:P
- lower (eventually, a bit worried about the speed bumps in my area haha) - coils will cost you about $2000 for a nice setup which i'm hoping to get soon. dw about speedbumps, they will make you a more cautious driver :P
i hope it works well with whatever you want to do, and as for funds, i think most of us have some sort of jobs that fund our little projects. so maybe you should start with the more affordable options and work your way up, or you can save for a while and blow it all in one go and give your baby a complete makeover :P
and dan, i wish my car had 80kw, sometimes it feels like i've got about 50 if i'm lucky! hehe. i'm hoping to get myself a DC5 or EP3 within the next year or so! I just love the k20 engine! i wish there was also more es1 owners as there aren't many ppl to get information off in regards to modding, or parts for that matter! give us the es1 coupe from the US!! they're hot!
ps. show us some pics of your car dawack :)
Thanks for the advice, SHU-ES1...mmm it looks likely that fogs + HIDs will be the first thing i'll do, it looks like its the only thing i can afford at the moment hehe. im just a bit worried about having to install them myself. also, does it look weird having HID fogs with normal head lights?
Getting rid of rear spoiler will also be DIY yeah? again, i'm a bit worried about doign all this stuff myself but don't wanna get ripped off. about the muffler tip, i reckon i'll put it in after doing the fogs but there seems to be a lot of choice when it comes to that. pity u can't test out the sound before putting it in hehe.
Suspension + rims would be better done at the same time yeah? i had no idea changing the springs would cost so much, but is that price you mentioned including the coilovers (i have no idea what they are, will check it on google lol).
i'm going to try to put aside around $600 for the fogs + HIDs + muffler tip, then u guys can hook me up with a place where they can install all this stuff for me :P
Anyways, i'll take a pic of my car as soon as ive washed it, im sure it'll be nice for you guys to have a reminder of how a stock civic looks like haha :P. and whatever anyone says, i'm going to believe my civic has 88kw of power as per the specifications haha.
Thanks
i was thinking about getting HID fogs, but i choose not to now coz i already have HID driving lights. so i keep the foglights stock i like it like that :D
me and my cuzin installed the fogs ourselves it was hard at first with the wires and the rest was eazy.
this is my muffler tip lol!
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y25.../Photos053.jpg
i have xforce twin loop muffler lying around the house. just cbf putting it on lol
280kw would be impressive for an ES.
oh i thought u already had a turbo on it.
what have u got on it now?
and are u getting a turbo kit from america or something or source the parts urself?
its a prototype kit from Peakboost in the US so its going to be the 1st in Aust for our 7th Gen
the cars going in next week, so it should be done around mid March
^ you must post pictures of the build :D
hey SHU-ES1, i've decided to get those same fogs u linked me to ages ago:
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Honda-Civic-0...742.m153.l1262
i like the shape of them compared to the circular ones. i want to get some HIDs for it and one of my friends is selling his 6000k HIDs from his 07 civic fog lights, will they work with this pair? also, what installation instructions did you use?
thanks
EDIT: i found this set of instructions for the 05 hybrid, would it be similar for my 03 sedan even though it has a slightly different front?
http://www.hondapartsdeals.com/Honda...fog_lights.pdf
dawack1 u do know that they are for a Hybrid Bumper and they wont fit unless u have the Hybrid bumper, not the normal GLi Bumper
agreed, unless you've got the same bumper that's on mine they're not going to fit. just double check first before you buy it :P
i see, thanks for that guys (thanks for the pm SHU-ES1). i'll take some pictures of my car, as far as i can tell front bumper is like urs SHU-ES1instead of like jokkah's.
it keeps saying that it failed to attached the pics even though they are within the restrictions :S
try this link if u wanna see my bumper

thanks
