I used to use ultimate all the time on my old rex, but then I only get average 300k. then I tried just normal unleaded and I got so much more 400+.
last week when i went on a roadtrip i got 580km before i filled up. but on a reg. basis meaning half hwy. half city i get roughly 450-500km max.
i think this is in my case too, im getting less kms from premium than on regular. im just gonna stick to regular mobil i told a friend and he said he gets more kms from regular (mobil especially) than on premium and he drives a falcon.Quote:

I normally fill up around the 450km mark (EG GLi) with a fair bit still in the tank. I haven't gotten it to the point of the fuel light coming on yet so I'd be interested to know how far it will go before it actually runs out.
I've been getting 400km or so out of a tank with regular 3000rpm driving and the occasional traffic light GP. cars turbo'd as well so i reckon thats quite good. Haven't taken a long highway drive yet so they are city figures.
However my fuel guage jumps around a bit so one of these days i'm just going to get a full tank, and a 5l jerry can of fuel and drive till it completely runs out. If i can get 450km regular driving i will be very happy
lol good way to test out.Quote:

i was wondering....would a cars ecu have to "learn" a different brand of fuel ? eg. knock sensor when using too low a ron rating ? ie everytime you use a different brand of fuel.
would mixing different fuel types alter the properties of these fuels ? eg. some get more kms with mobil, some more with BP etc. what if you had 50/50 of each.
This last week i managed 323km out of 33.4L =10.3L/100km
i find my car runs best with Mobil 8000>BP Ultimate>Shell Optimax>Caltex Vortex although some instances earlier this year, ultimate made more kms than 8000.
I'm currently getting about 11L/100km. Off topic, I just filled up with Ultimate @ $1.39
F#$@ !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nar, it just burns it the same i think. The advantage of higher RON is it burns at lower temperature so the engine runs cooler and more efficently. which results in less fuel needed to be burnt.Quote:

i normally get abt 500 - 530 every 40L of 98 octane fuel
with 1st and 2nd seeing redline quite often
i used to get about 500kms with the civic when i used to drive it.. mum gets around 550 now, she babies the car more than i did lol
its quiet the opposite, high octane fuel ignites from higher temperatures (such as spark plugs etc ) and results in a normal combustion wheras low octane fuel might pre-ignite by low temperates in cylynder hot spots etc and will turn an engine to scrap. you will not get a lower engine temperature if u use RON and u will not get more kms off ur tank. infact i usually get about 90kms more evrytime i fill up with regular unleaded, i've done this a number of times and results are similar with my car everytime.Quote:

I hv a 95 breeze and it usually gets 500km off a full tank or 450km with air on all the time. Lovely especially with the high rate petrol these days.
^^^ ??? i have a 95 breeze too and i get 400km off a tank.
i use this lil calculator thingy
http://www.dropbears.com/u/utilities...fficiency.html
hope its helpful in some way
I am getting really shit as my O2 sensor is not working properly
I'm very surprised a lot of you are getting less than 400kms per tank!
Then again, my friend drives a manual RX and he gets 300km per tank. Too much revving I think.
good thread..
which EG civic has the best fuel efficiency?
some are saying the Si can get 600ks.. whilst the breeze (1.3L model) can get around 650..
is that true?
mum just got 520kms out of a full tank with the civic.. its a 1.6L SOHC
690 km when going between 120 - 150 interstate. (to 40 - 41 liters)
530 km when city (39 - 40 liters)

Hi Mr. Jasma.. Could you please check if my Exhaust is Jasma approved? :DQuote:

I got 320 kms out of a half tank in my del sol all highway driving as I was coming back from Parkes to Sydney. I was very happy with that, rpm range from 3-4k, with occasional spurts.
i used to get 430km out of 35L with my civic(with air filter) but nowadays i'm getting less than 400 around 380 or so, can anyone tell me why(btw i have an full exhaust now + air filter and has been serviced recently) thing is the k's started to drop before i have the exhaust on?
and on the jazz i get about 7L/100 or something :)
Maybe because your air/fuel ratio has changed? And even more so after your exhaust was fitted.Quote:

i dont drive it hard much
does automatic really matter? big difference??
Yes it sounds like you might have a problem. Never gone past 350km on 45L? My CRV does that easily so better go and get it checked out :)Quote:

u get this checked at ur local mechanic yea??? or the next service??
never had to do any thing like this
usually i hoon everywhere, and i get 380ish kms until light comes up, n then i'd usually fill around 39L.
but i last tank i drove with 1/4 throttle and took it easy, not even one squirt of vtec, and i got 460kms, and light just came on.
why lie for Tony? I saw u hooning it like 5 seconds ago lol. 1/4 throttle from the ground! haha
I get about 480km outta my 50L tank. Daaamn petrol prices are killing it...filled up for almost $1.50 a litre y'day....
now i get about 430km... i think a service is due soon...
highest i pay is like about $50 for 39L on normal unleaded shell fuel
i filled up 22L couple of days ago on my crx, so far ive done less than 250kms
i only have less than a 1/4 tank left.
i have a problem???
i put 20L in and got about 270km
which is pretty good
i use premium btw
yes sounds like there's a problem. your car is meant to average 7-8L/100km which means u should get about 500-550km.Quote:

me teg chews through petrol like no 2moro...280km on a full tank :(
Well, I went on a little getaway a couple of weekends ago. Did about 600k's, and used just over 40L - so that's about 7L per 100k
Q ball that just turned me off turbo soo bad, 280km is disgusting man,Quote:

i dont often winge but fuel is a ****in joke!
what would be the reasons of running rich ?
dirty air filter, faulty plugs... ???
i usuaslly run on premium
has neone tried 'boost' petrol from United stations.
its 2c on top of unlead and 98oct
supposedly booost power etc
neone tried using
or good/cons of thsi petrol
My Auto EK CXi best is 483 on around 35L with about 75% of HWY driving, suitcases and 1 passenger (fuel light didn't stay on, but the needle was bellow the last marker). I run Vortex Premium cos you can get it a Woolworths up here. I fill to 2 clicks on the bowser. I've just done 310km at half tank, stupid Honda gauges and tank though generally only get about half that for the last half tank - So I'm expecting 420-450kms off this tank.Quote:

i think mine is about 300km, i filled up 30litre of ultimate today and it cost $42!!!!!!! i use to only pay 32! bloody petrol price!
try running 4 660cc injectors hahahaQuote:

Is a good idea to get your car tune and reset the ECU.
driving around town during work today
i noticed most petrol stations about the 1.27 -129 mark
then i see BP 1.38 for normal unlead
so for bp ultimate. GG
where do u see these prices??Quote:

Melbourne's at 129.9 at a lot of stations. :)
so the general consensus is that B16as get worse fuel consumption figures than D series right?|
apparently it's going down to low 120's next week..
I was quite surprised too. Then again it makes sense, D series has less power?Quote:

Its $1.28 today, so looks like you might be right.Quote:

Because on my car I can drive another 50-100km after I see the light the first time.
^^^ i used to get around 400-450kms from regular unleaded with my breeze but engine used to knock and make pinging sounds, now i use premium or 98 ron and engine is good but i get around 350-400kms.
i never try Premium fuel, is that work better?? i only filled up when tank is almost empty. anything should i check??
maybe your combustion isn't so good...
have you checked if you've got good sparks and air mixture is correct?
I get about 500+km per tank - my car uses about 7.2L/100kms sometimes 8L - depending on driving conditions.
what is air mixture? did u mean air filter??
I got 535Km out of my tank.
My friend has proven that premium is more economical than unleaded. But, can you fill up with premium just like that or there is something that has to be set beforehand?
i can get to 400km then the light turns on.
ek4 v-tir stock standard, is that okay or should i be gettin a bit more?
but with my whale pipe on i struggled to break the 350 mark
all depends on driving conditions. if its lots of stop and start/ heavy traffic then thats not too bad with a bit of spirited driving.
mods will often cause the engine run rich ie worse economy as the stock fuel map is not suited to the modifications.
i've found short ram intakes to cause my car run quite rich while a CAI setup with longer intake arm to run less rich. i came to these conclusions basically from the amounts of soot building up on my rear bar.
I've found that my DIY CAI has helped my fuel efficency amazingly! Last tank, i wasn't trying, and got 518km out of 35L. :D
i can usually get around 450km to a tank in the crx......
wish i could say the same for the cordia :-(
Posting for a friend:-
I've had this 93 EG hatch 1.5l carbie for the past 6 months now, everything is factory stock and i seem to only get 300-350km out of a full tank, and that's pushing it right to the empty line. This is using just regular ULP, and driving everyday in the suburbs changing gears at around the 2.5k-3k mark. When i bought the car, it had just had the radiator, timing belt and water pump changed. On freeway runs sometimes, maybe i can get 400km if i'm lucky. I was under the impression that this car should be making at least an easy 500km+. It does however have a tiny hole in the exhaust somewhere, but im not sure if that would be the cause of the bad fuel consumption. Does anyone know what i should be checking out for to make the fuel economy better? I was thinking of changing the ignition components such as the leads and plugs, but is there anything else i should be looking at?
Thanks in advance =)
(Also posted in the Civic model specific/fuel thread, but doesn't seem anyones checking there too often)
revive an old thread!!
i just got 470km out of my 85 civic!
1.5L 12 valve sohc carby power ahahah
really Ross, is that all how many Litres left....I used to get 600 + out of my old AH (freeway) and atleast 500 - 550km city. BTW mine used to love magnatec oil!
