my brother bought a base model CU2 manual yesterday paid $34k driveaway
Awesome! How long is he waiting for the car? From what i was told on friday i should be getting mine this wednesday :D
Did your brother get any accessories with the car? I was offered $32k for an ex-demo Euro at trivett in Parramatta when i was shopping for my car. I think i could've bargained it down to $30k for the car cause the salesperson looked a bit desperate but it wasn't my colour.
yups. It wasn't in bad condition. Had one or 2 minor scuffs near the footwells (on the drivers side) and overall wasn't too bad of a car. Just the colour i didn't particularly like. And the fact that its ex-demo. Cause i know i gave the Accord euro a good beating when i test drove it :P
Any updates on the current buy prices? Also, has anyone got an 09 build - called the 2010 model? Appreciate any thoughts around the changes with this model relative to the 2009 (08 build/09 compliant) model. My research suggest the prices have gone up by roughly $2000 since Apr/May...
only changes to 2010 euro is black parcel shelf.
I think some of u guys are very optimistic.. Going by past experiences , Honda doesn't discount the euro and if they do it is very little to maybe offer u a 5 yr warranty. Honda japan doesn't offer incentives to the dealer as the euro is their best all round car in their line up, therefore Honda dealers can't pass discounts to the buyer. Honda is still ridding their 08 stock and have slowed production therefore you'll have to wait a fair while for an 09 in the spec u want. So go buy an 08 /09 while u still can and save some money cos there will be Jack all negotiating on a 09/10
Just as an FYI, I recently ordered a 2009/10 model Euro Luxury for $42K on road (business rego). Dealer has advised its build date will be June 2009 - and delivery is end of Aug.
Thanks guys. Looks like there is no major update then but for the parcel shelf - 42K is a really good deal for luxury! Even more so given there does not seem to be much room for negotiation on these models. My research indicated over 47K for these standard auto...
What are the pitfalls of buying the 08 build/09 compliant model now, relative to 09/09 model? Appreciate your thoughts and help.
hello, i am a newbie. would like your advice here. thank you.
I've been quoted with a price of $51000 d/away for 09/10 luxury auto, with accessories below:
1. full modulo kit (front and rear aero bumper, side skirt, ducktail spoiler, and sports grille)
2. floor mat, interior trim set, accent lighting, door sill garnish, metallic paint, bootlip protector, door protection firm, speaker ring, sports pedal, storage pocket)
Is the price reasonable? or can i get a better deal with it? Is with standard 3 years warranty.
Thank you all
Bought a Euro STD 2010 at Yarra Honda for 37,000 then negotiated accessories for an extra 1,400. So 38,400 with fog lights, sports pedal, rear parking sensor and mats. Paid deposit on 24th of July appointment to get car on 31st of July. Don't know if I should go ahead with the deal after reading the forums and and hearing my friend getting a 2009 lux euro in may for 38000 drive away at the Werribee Dealer. :S
Victoria
It would be interesting to know if any these fantastic deals involved a trade in, if so then the price of the new car is irrelevant as this is where they cream you.
Car dealers are not known for their generosity. e.g i traded a x-trail for $17,000 next day it was on the lot for $24,000.....really makes you feel like you got a bargain :(
P.S...And everybody in the showroom told me i good a good deal, but hey the idea is to make you feel that you had a victory but you never do'
My brother in law was in the business all his life. biggest crook i ever met :thumbdwn:
$38000 for a luxury? ..somebody is having a lend of you mate.Add another $6000 maybe.
For a start there were no 09s in May..
Rade my fd2 when i bought the cu2 for 24k. They sell it for 26k the next day. Should i feel cheated as well? Oh and the fd2 has been in 5-6 accident before i trade it in... Hopefully none from ozhonda bought it off the dealer :p
Agree with you that on-road costs are not the reason behind the increases - it was always like 3-4k usually... The reality is that Honda has put up their prices by some $3k+ since Jan this year, effectively pushing up the price point...
I am in the market for a 2008 Euro Standard Auto - black or dark grey. What would you be paying in Qld drive away for a demo type one that had done 1000-2000k from a dealer...? I mean what is the cheapest I could probably get it for (depending on individual things like that dealerships budget/sales that particular months etc).
Cheers
Just Brought one Std AUTO at 37990 with all the accessories Fog lights, Mats, Boot trunk come with 5 yrs warranty as well.
Mate - thanks for that. Can I ask if it was metalic paint and an MY09 and finally where you got it from because that really seems like a great deal if its a brand new one and if it is an on the road price (is it?).
Cheers
Well I tried a few deals even at $35K... but no one want to talk to me... may be they are not desperate hahaha
Actually I got another mate brought a EURO LUX Auto for only 40K back at Feb... looks like price increased now :-(
My say Compliance 09... with 5 Yrs warranty I am not complaining.. I remember I got a problem on my Jazz after 4 yrs, Honda charge me $400 to flash the CTV... too bad my Jazz only had 3 yrs warranty, they advise I had to pay the $700 to get it extended for another year. Rip off!!!
I suppose unless u sell your car in 1 or 2 yrs time, the "MY" date is not that curcial. in 5 yrs time our CU2 will only worth around 18K or under... hence only the KMs and how well u take care on the car counts. Remmber a car depreciate in value unlike houses...
Would like to share my good news with fellow members:
I signed up a new silver CU2 Euro Lux Manual on wed 12/08/2009 with 5 yr Honda extended warranty& roadside assist (Honda Aust chips in $200, dealer covers rest of it), Motorone Streetlegal tint($595), Floor mats ($190) for $41200 total.
Built: July 2008, Complaince: April 2009, In showroom since May2009. Odo:51km + 5km of my gentle testdrive. will get the car next monday (24/08/09) The sales person and the manager are relatively new to jobs, they were absolutely wonderful. I always want to give new people as much opportunities as possible, so they got my business.
Was hoping to get 09 built car but there is non left in QLD, (for Silver lux manual). If I insist to get 09s then have to wait til Dec 09 or Jan 2010 for delivery. and I will expect to get very little or no discount if dealer have to order one in from Japan. The one I signed up is one of the only two stock (08 built silver lux man) left in Brisbane metropolitian area. The other one was at another dealer, built sept 08, compl apr 09, ODO 86km. Advertised on their website for $41900 driveaway. (not sure if 5 yr ext warranty included or not). According to that dealer, they are going to register that car as a demo by next week if not sold prior.
well done mate - got yourself a nice machine there.
Cheers
Has anyone bought a CU2 recently? Just wondering what kind of price people are getting at the moment.
yes it says 2009. On this side of the car, it had the compliance plate 07/09. Production date on the car is SEP 2008 on the windscreen. Actually it is very easy to spot. All 2008 production have a biege parcel shelf. all 2009 ones have black/grey. but so far I have not seen any....
Just read the news
http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news...0829-f2r7.html
looks like they still have too much stock in Japan. I found that Dealer will generally not interested in giving discount. The way to negoitate is set your price in mind and try to ask them for as much accessories as possible.
for Base 38K should give u all the Mats, boot trunk, Fog lights + possible the rear parking senors. If u can find a low Kms Demo, 35k-36k is possible. Lux model I heard lowest was around 43-44K D/A.
Aug/Sep is a good month to buy as they are struggling with sales budget. every order to the sales guy is gold.
Are there ANY 09 build and complied CU2s in the country.
yep sure are - I have a July 09 build - car was delivered to me 13 Aug 09
^^^ agreed
I have a 09 build on order eta 19 Sept.
Details: 09/10 Luxury Auto, full Modulo body kit, accent lighting, mats, boot pocket, leather gear boot (couldn't justify $670+ for the leather steering wheel) all up $47K + onroads (on-roads not in deal as I'm purchasing in Sydney and registering in ACT, so add ~$3k).
ACT dealer wouldn't talk turkey, quoted $57k driveaway. I promptly took my business elsewhere.. (and then let them know later what I achieved )
Euro is one of their best seller, it is comparable with likes of BMW and Benz in term of Quality and price is 30% cheaper. unless if u want the Prestige, then BMW or BENZ if u want a real smooth ride, EURO beats them hands down.
Congrats to all who had purchased it...Enjoy the ride :D
Hi, new Euro owner here, pick up car tomorrow. Just thought I would let prospective buyers on here know price. Euro Lux auto, 2010 model (very recent manufacture date), paid $45800. Can't wait to get it. Hope this one has no pinging probs.
Congrats! Have they change the back parcel shelf to Black/Grey now from Cream?
Thanks. Yeah parcel shelf color change, also he said something about when you unlock the car and hold the button in it opens all the windows automatically (say on hot days and you are walking to the car from a distance and want to air the car out), and also when you lock the car and hold the button in it auto closes all windows. I think that was all the changes that are obvious.
Mate, u get what u pay for... Dealers are selling 2009 model for $1000 cheaper and throw in 5 yrs warranty + roadside assistance...
But that Windows feature is very cool.. epsecially sometime we keep forgetting to wind up the window and the rain hit us.
The Honda Euro website now has a facility to give the "recommended selling price" with on road cost for each state and territory. The ACT it the most expensive with Victoria the cheapest. NT comes in second cheapest but in reality, no real deals are done here.
Try here: http://euro.honda.com.au/about-the-c...fications.aspx
the extra 2 years of honda warranty is pretty cheap. On my 2010 I got the extra 2 for about $780 and there is no stamp duty payable on that.
Cheers
There are always small technical adjustments made as the model run progresses. To my mind getting the latest one, particularly in a new shape is good and justifies the extra, but thats just me.
I had been neglecting to use the horn because I was worried that like a current accord I drove it would sound like the usual road runner jap sound with some vibration thrown in...wastn I surprised to hear that it sounded just like...wait for it....a BMW! Very nice touch for a car marketed at the Germans....I like a nice horn..
Cheers
Please people don't make me laugh with some of those prices people are saying they have got for their Euros. The last few mention are real prices. The people that tend to say I got this and that for xxx price are all lying. How do I know? I work for Honda and I can't even get those prices. You guys must be very high in the Honda ladder to get those prices, because I'll tell you some of these prices people are "quoting" are well below dealer purchase price. If you really got those prices show u your contract, just wipe out your name and address, because in my experience people on the internet really love to lie about what they paid too what they really paid. For the people interested in purchasing a car don't take the advice from some of these so call arm chair experts. Please euronewbie tell me which dealership is doing this price because I would like to have a word with them why they would sell a car at a 4k lost. Mate I call bullsh*t because there is no such thing as business rego. No one get business rego. It is a tax the government gets ( believe me they want their money) and all cars pays GST, stamp duty and rego. The only people who get discount are war vet, pensioner and health care card holder. Businesses that purchase 50 cars still don’t get a DISCOUNT!!!
Also for the other expert that know about the Honda dealer network and how the GFC work you have no idea at all. The cars Honda buys are purchased about a few months in advanced at a set exchange rate so that if the rates go up or down they won’t have to constantly increase or decrease prices. Just because one week the dollar is 100 yen the following it is 80 yen doesn’t mean the prices of the cars change. I don’t hear people complaining when the dollar goes down and prices of the cars are maintained.
Also for the other arm chair expert, metallic or pearl pain doesn’t cost more??? Are you a car painter or panel repairer? If your not you don’t know what you are talking about. Don’t complain about Honda’s paint cost, go to Merc or Bmw dealership and ask how much they what for metallic paint more like 2000k. All cry babies on this site. If you can’t afford a euro then don’t expect to buy one cheap. For god’s sake it just won car of the year. Try and get another car with the built quality and luxury feature for the current prices. If your not happy go buy a madza 6 then.
Best regard
One pissed off person who actual works in the industry and is a buyer as well. I hope potential buys don’t fall in the trap in believing the lies some people spin on this site because those prices ain’t real.
Dealer cost price is 25% less than list price. Always has been. Always will be. What dealers do for a deal is their business. Any attempt by manufacturers, importers or distributors to maintain a set price is unlawful under the Trade Practices Act.
Now, a dealer's margin is different again and is the amount they have to play with after they have paid overheads (rent, interest, electricity, water, rates, labor party imposed taxes not present in non-labor states, wages, etc).
Then there are the bonuses paid back to the dealers by manufacturers, importers or distributors for sales performance.
What is the true cost of a car to a dealer? Fc*k knows. But one thing is for sure, they're not going to give one away to you.
euronewbie did clarified to me that 42k is not on road cost, so his purchase price is 42k + onroad cost
I just got my MY10 Euro Lux Auto with build date Jul-09, with quite a few accessories, drive away price 51k. Yes, all accessories worth around 6k.
may be i did a trade-in, that's why...
Hey sound likes angry bear is in the forum! Those low prices cannot be brand new with zero Kms... A demo at $4000-5000 cheaper than RRP is possible but not much more from there or else buy at the current Pomo with 5 years warranty.... but u don't get the new windows trick and grey parcel shelf... end of the day a sale is a sale.
One good resource, check out www.carsales.com.au look for demo and new car. there u can see who are the desperate dealers in australia.
Aug /Sep had been quiet, sales guy still have to sell a car to make up the numbers. If they make less from one, they just have to make up on an other customer. bare in mind some cars have better margin then the other. If u try the legend u can even larger discount. And always buy on the 3rd or last week of month as they need the number to get over the finish line. Good luck to new soon to be CU2 Owners, you will not regret owning one :D
+1 to additional info from euronewbie.
Akira maybe you should have pm'ed him in the first instance - you don't work in the ACT by any chance? You sound just like the dealer I tried dealing with who kept telling me my quotes (and mikhalelnen's) were below cost price - his bad because it cost any chance of the deal.
Ok, seems like I may have stirred up a hornets nest here - something I certainly didnt intend to do. I was simply trying to advise other Ozhonda members what price i got for my euro.
To akira124 and others - let me clarify I few things. First my euro is a company car and I am not involved at all in direct negotiations with dealers - that is all done by our fleet company. All i have to do is choose a car and colour - and then they (fleet company) provide quotes. And due to our company car policy I can only get a car that comes in under a certain value. And i cannot get options except for mats, headlight and bonnet protectors. The car also has to have a build date not more than 3 months from delivery to me.
My car was ordered in June, build date July and delivered to me in mid Aug. As for the exact price I do have a breakdown at work of what the price was, rego, etc (but this is the fleet quote and not direct from the dealer) - I will dig out and let you guys know. But without the exact figures in front of me, I can say it was around $42K (otherwise I would have gone over my limit). I dont feel comfortable mentioning which dealer as I dont want to have them blasted but it was a dealer based in Sydney. I will also mention i was quite suprised with the price (given what i had seen on carsales and here). Armed with my quote i actually went to my local dealer as he happened to have the colour i wanted and it had a build date of June whereas the sydney dealer couldnt get me one until mid of Sept (that was what they originally said to me when quoting but ended getting it in Aug as mentioned). He also matched the fleet companys quote and told me that all dealers buy the cars from Honda at the same price (not sure how true this is??) as i quered him on the low price. Armed with the quote from my local dealer i informed the fleet company the next day as they agreed to use him (due to quick delivery) but unfortunately on the Monday the local dealer had sold the car to someone who walked in off the street (and therefore for he got a higher price for the car) so i had to end up going with the Sydney dealership.
I realise the fleet company probably has some bargaining power due to their purchasing but i just wanted to post what price is possible.
Sorry if it is perceived that I have misleed anyone with my previous post. Like others I come to Ozhonda to find out information about our cars and certainly don’t set out to post information that is BullS**t. If you want to know more details - pm me. In the meantime I will dig out the specifics (ie price ex GST, rego etc) so I can provide better specifics.
Hi All,
Just want to get your opinion on a quote:
Euro Lux Navi, Auto, Metalic Paint, floormats $48,500 driveaway...
Let me know what you think.
Cheers!
RRP is $53000 10% off is good.. but consider it is end of Month salesman are pretty desperate to hit budget... How about push for another $1000 lower to close the deal :D
is it the 2010 model (with black real parcel shelf, etc)? if yes, thats a good deal mate!
Yep... MY10... and I forgot to add the Bluetooth is also included...
sound like u got the lot..LOL... how about asking them to throw in the Modulo package :D
mate, is that $48,500 USD???
haha... AUD... thankfully :)
So from the comments, I take it I'm getting a decent deal then... A relief really as it's the first time I've had to do the haggling for a new car...
I took the time to shop around and a dealer that had the colour I wanted in stock... luckily for me, it happens to be the closest dealer to home too, so that's good... I suppose this late in the month the dealers are eager to get it delivered quickly to add one to make their numbers look pretty...
Now they're trying to sell me paint protection, interior protection, tinting.... any opinions on that stuff? Your advice is appreciated!
Cheers!
i got 50k drive away for auto navi with tow bar, boot lining, and mat
sounds like you got a good deal there
no need to get tint done from dealer, they charge too much, you can tint your car for around $200-250 and they probably do a better job too
paint and interior protection is a scam LOL
Wow $50000 for a euro lux navi....is it really worth 15000 more than a standard euro?
I reckon is a pretty good deal for Lux Navi for 48500 with some accessories included.
Given Lux Navi is 3000 dearer than Lux, comparatively 45500 is a really great deal for MY10 Lux Auto.
As mentioned by denot, go for it if it is a MY10 model. If you are looking for a sportier appearance, jimlee008 advice is great, go for the Modulo Kit, or upgrade yourself with Mugen kit.
All the best.
Paint Protection is a scum. I got my Tint done by Tint-a-car cost $350 using mid-night express.. they get the whole rear window done as well.
If it is black, make sure u tell them not to polish it. The car dealer use the same cloth for all their car, it leave swril marks... :-(
Buy a clean microfirbe chamois to wash and clean your Car. That would look magnificant :D
Thanks for the handy advice all...
Deal's done... Picking up the car next Tuesday or Wednesday. :)
I think we'll look at aftermarket tint and protection providers as the dealer's costs are quite high in comparison.
Cheers!
