An FD2R coming to Aus

I have the paperwork to send for the compliance plate and have been into QLD transport to get form for registration.

brian - how did you go about importing the car? obviously something along hte lines of a personal import and not import for track use so therefore you have been to QT etc and informed them got paperwork for compliance to aus road standards and rego etc so what else can go wrong? after importing and everything can at any stage one person c0ck-block the fd2r and you wont be able to get it on the road?

If things goes wrong then he has to do lot of modification so that it can comply with the relevant Australian Design Rules ( probably like FD2 Sport which for example he has to install extra airbags or modify fuel emission) so i think thats why honda aus didnt get one for us.

true, im just wondering why they would **** you around with taxes etc let it come here as a personal import with the goal of driving it on the road then they fcuk u up once it's here.

As a personal import it only has to meet basic safety standards, lammy front screen, seatbelts that comply small things like these and as for emission test ive U.K documents which state 219co the FN2 rates at 215co so dont think that should be a problem.

Brian, the one thing I concern is... what RON fuel you used to u fill the FD2R back there?

what ron fuel he use its not an issue just reflash your ecu when the car gets here loll

yeah fn2r fuel emmission is 219, but i thought fd2R should be more around 220 to 230 i have read the figures somewhere, well then again you have got the uk version one probably everything the same with fn2r.

as i said i thought he is using broker to help with compliance plate

well if he can get away very easy then its good, because probably it would be more fd2r or other type r coming in since plenty permanent residents here are living in overseas more than a year and driving type r there. I got a friends driving euro R in singapore and he is permanent resident so if brian can make it then he should bring in one too one day

Back in the U.K I used 99ron fuel,so will be using V power here but basically i can use any fuel above 95ron as the engine has a knock sensor so would retard the ignition timing if needed.

98RON will be fine. that's what most (if not all) of us use on our JDM EP3.

it shouldn't be too hard to get your car registered. there might be a shock with the tax tho as my fd's fd found out when he got a Rx8 in (yeah WTF).....

i was at honda dealers on sat(bought a white FD1 yay) and asked them about FD2Rs they said u can import it here for track use but cant register it on the roads =X

you are correct to an extend.

if you own and use the car overseas for over 12 months, you can apply to import it as a personal import and rego it.

True , i have never ever seen peoples so freak with honda like this until i joined this forum. I drive honda since I was high school and i only recognise honda is very reliable car and it has better technology than other, then all these jdm gronks was really starting to mess up my liking..

How many road registered FD2R in Australia? isn't what makes it unique that the car is one of a kind and be registered under QLD plates??

As long as its under Personal imports, owning the car more than 1 year overseas.. the car could be brought here and registered LEGALY

Each to their own,but i test drove the FN2 twice and i wouldnt have traded my EP3 in for it as it didnt have the performance i expected where as the FD does.

FN2R for sure, i know its not the best in performance but it looks heaps better and the FD2R to most non car people just looks like a riced up civic!

If ignoring performance, i pick fd2r for the looks, the back seat that can fit ppl taller than richard hammond and the 4 doors for my son's baby capsule :p

Yes the car is slowly making its way here ive been told to expect it anytime near the end of October which seems a long way off, it will probably take another couple of weeks at least to sort everything out and get it on the road.I will certainly be looking at going to some meets to find out all the best places for tyres oil and general stuff like that.

Yes the fd2R comes from Japan thats where it was imported from,The FN2R is built in the UK for the euro market, performance wise the fn2 is quoted at 198bhp and The FD2R at 222bhp as per honda marketing. ive had mine at 3 different rolling road days back in the UK and my car made 238-241bhp which i think is good for a completly standard car:cool:
